Alright JR, that'll be enough of that..

Not a good comparison. You don't have to EARN a lottery payout. You're not getting the payout in advance in exchange for a lot of hard work, sweat and blood.

This is not a windfall for JR. It's a payment in return for services not yet rendered.

BIG DIFFERENCE.

ENDORSEMENT MONEY

Work, yes. Hard work, no.

Looks like a big dude in a suit to me... and since JaMarcus IS, in fact a big dude and WAS, in fact, wearing a suit, I just don't see what the deal is.

The guy bought himself a nice watch.

So what?

If it is so big that it fucks up his throwing motion, I'll get concerned.

If you can't stay on top of your game endorsements evaporate.

It's one of the few direct correlations one can point out in this world.

But there is no direct correlation between spending your endorsement money and your game evaporating.

I'm sure Tiger Woods hasn't buried all of his endorsement dollars in mason jars. I'd imagine he's spent a good deal of it... and he's still A-numero-uno in the golf world.

I really don't see why people are pissed off about the fact that JaMarcus Russell spent some of his own money. It isn't like he was at a nightclub at 3:00am "making it rain." The guy bought a suit and a watch. Good for him.

LeBron James and His "on-loan" pre-draft Hummer revealed horrible character flaws that have continued to plague him and undercut his level of professional play.
Right.
Having taught in Hunter's Point and SF Juvenile Hall (YGC), as a "white guy" I understand a little bit about this culture. JR has lived without while his school and those associated with his ability have made a lot of money. By rule, he couldn't have any. Now it's getting close and he knows it and he wants some.

Let me ask this of ya'll. If you won the lottery today ($30 million let's say) but weren't going to see your first check for a few days (when JR's endorsements will start to flow) would you live your life as a normal person until your check showed up, or might you go out and enjoy a little free-time and spending in anticipation of the windfall?

I'd be on a vacation I couldn't afford with my family, eating at nice restaurants and each of my little girls would be picking out their ponies.

Still Bling - just my bling.

Oh, and PS, Quinn has 2 Hummers H2 already.

OK, fair points. Still, these are high profile (thus in the public) young men. If I were his agent, I'd advise him to tone it down just a bit. There is nothing wrong with displaying a bit of what I'd call "humble proffesionalism", particularly for a Franchise QB. That is all.

Never said there was.

And as soon as JR proves he's A-numero-uno in the football world, I'll be nice and comfortable with anything he wants to do. If he takes us to the promised land he can pork Dennis Rodman in the ass while wearing jewelry made from human teeth for all I care.

Come on, let's step back.

Any hardcore JRuss supporters concerned about this? No.

Any CJ-backers upset about this? Yes.

If I wanted CJ over JRuss, I might make fun of him too, and call him fat. I don't think I'd have a problem with the jewelry, tho, because I have a TV and have been paying attention since Deion Sanders entered the league.

Everyone has chosen their guy, and now it's "look for pimples on the other guy."

His sunglasses? For cryin' out loud.

Humility is a luxury most successful people abandon, though I agree, I like it when I see it.

Anyone Like anagrams?

Jamarcus E. Russell = Jesus's Arm Cures All

I started a thread in January about attitude, his "passion" for the game and the fact he reminded me that he was all about the money and not the game. You guys ripped me a new one.....Don't say I didn't warn ya.

I hope he proves me wrong, because it is looking more and more like JRuss is the guy. However, I wouldn't be suprised if Kiffin gets in Al's ear and we end up with the golden boy. I wanted Peterson from the start but we have no chance in drafting him, so my fingers are crossed they we trade down and rape a team of picks.

Rumor has it that Cleveland would love to land at #1 and would give up #3 and Braylon Edwards...

Oh, but let me remind you all that this is an INTERNET RUMOR so don't go crazy about it.

NFL.com has a blog by Brandt and Carrucci: http://www.nfl.com/draft/features/blog

Russell won the "bling" award. He had a massive silver watch, a big silver ring, and silver trim on sides of his black sunglasses. This is what he had to say about what else a team would get from him beyond his much-publicized arm strength: "I'm a very intelligent guy. I'm a great competitor. I'm very reliable on the field. I'm an unselfish person. I'm a great teammate. And I have a good personality."

That's a WHOLE LOT OF "I's" in there from Ol' Leon............

I smell a HUGE RAT!!!!!!!

Yeah, I posted that in the War Room Rumor thread - and I would love to see it go down, but who freakin's knows. A bottle of scotch and a few sleeping pills will get me to tomorrow.

Sorry, R4. Home for lunch. Haven't had time to check too many threads. Just went with what grabbed my eye.

As for this rumor, I'd be cool with. At #3, we still walk away with Russell or Quinn and we add Braylon Edwards to the mix. Yeah, that wouldn't piss me off. I don't see it happening, of course...

And now... back to the salt mine...

I call BS!! Al Davis pretty much banished Marcus allen from the Raiders after Allen went and did a commercial without approval from the team, saying he was not team oriented and nobody is bigger than the Raiders, etc, etc.

Now it's okay to be an unproven, bling wearing over rated and over hyped college QB who who has an "I" for every other word in his vocab? No, I don't think so, I say dude is Akili Smith ALL OVER AGAIN!! Not because I am pro CJ, but because I am ANTI-Akili/JR. If we don't get this right, it sets us back another 3-4 years and alot of cap room!

Um, the question was, what will a team get from you, besides athleticism?
What pronoun should he use (and Not going 3rd person on us)?

I'd be much more worried had he said:

"We're a very intelligent guy. Us is a great competitor. You are very reliable on the field. She's an unselfish person. It's a great teammate. And he have a good personality."

Point taken, but R4life has to admit that Ex has some validity to his points....
