Well, Lane Kiffen hasn't coached a single game yet and Al Davis is already undermining the boy wonder. Much like he did with Jon Gruden. According to PFW, Kiff is steamin about the final roster as Al continues to be the puppet master.

If all this true, even Al should be able to see that the last five years are proof enough that he has lost his grip on football, as it pertains to the on field product. Not to mention the entire draft fiasco. We all know that JR isn't signed, half of our draft has signed with other teams. Why draft a kid in the top of round 3 and then cut him?

This team, again, will suffer as Al cuts off his nose to spite his face. 6-10 is the best we can hope for as Al meddles but 4-12 is more likely. I am sick!

1st of all this is PFT - Real Hit and miss. For eevery time they speculate correctly they whiff entirely.

2nd The source is very shaky - the ever popular source "with knowledge of the situation"

3rd PFT gets used by their sources. This could have come straight from KK - show the team he's not the ice man they think he is (yes he is) and he's angry, like they are, andwanted to keep a few of the players cut - but doesn't say who they are so the players think maybe he agreed with them whomever it was.

Not buying it. Not buying it at all.

What has PFT whiffed on this offseason with the Raiders?

By comparison, everybody's favorite reporter McDonald has already whiffed on Moses and McCown.

Totally.

We should discount all the years of horrible reporting and terrible rumor mongering because they drilled a few key points this year.

They definitely have an 'in' within the Raider camp.

Kiffin sounded pretty believable on the Raider website. Moses started out great. Got passed by Kelly as the starter. Clemons as the backup. Came down to Richardson and Moses, and the dude lost...

It sucks, but thats the way she goes. Luckily we had 8 draft picks make the team.

The idea of taking any coach at his word as if he isnt bullshitting you and the media (which is what he should do rather than be too honest and imo is the sign of a smart coach) is kinda naive. Kiffin will lie a million times over, comes with the job. Gruden was too. The one time he was honest the ravens took full advantage of his "not changing one play" set up. Callahan dug his grave being too honest with the media. kiffin is savvy and i like that. But you gotta make out his bs and real talk on your own i guess with everyone being subjective i guess. But dont for a sec act like he wont drop a pokers calm face and tell you the freshest pound of bullshit story he can muster when he may feel a need to.

Exactly... all the PFT haters can point to is how off the site was when it first started... but you look at what the site has put out this summer... they've been more accurate that ESPN, and every Raider beat writer combined. They've taken the entire industry to school on both the JPuss deal and the Vick fiasco.

Only Schefter's giving them a run for their money right now... and Schefter was definitely onto something when he said that McCown was already penciled in as the Raiders opening day starter... turned out he was wrong, but after watching this Al Davis dog and pony show, Schefter was close enough to move up to PFT status as far as I'm concerned.

Bro don't waste your time... You actually think somebody from the bull shit capital of the world is going to buy that spin job?

I see this a couple of ways.

1.) Yes, I personally don't believe that Kiffin is all that irked about the draft. If his rhetoric about the best players is genuine, then, it seems many of "Al's boys" got released while Kiffin retained some surprises. No inside info, just my simple read on the situtation.

2.) The press conference is irrelavent. I agree with those that say coaches lie. Constantly in fact. All of them. Bill Parcels came the closest to being honest. That is why we loved him, even though his message obviously wore thin towards the end. This is why we all love the Jim Mora Sr. "Playoffs!!!!" meltdown. Gruden, for all the revisionist history love, gave the most cliche' interviews of all time. I NEVER gleaned any insight into his true feelings. Never.

I say that Kiffin was 100% responsible for all of these moves.

Well according to this internet rumor... now thangs make a l'il more sense....

Internet Rumor... take it for what it's worth... said:
Radio 680am just reported that Quentin Moses was let go in error. Apparently Don Johnson, an assistant coach on the defensive line had submitted a prioritized list of players he wanted to keep. Moses was inadvertently left off the list. He then sent a separate email to a guy named Jeff Birren who works in administration. Birren thought Moses was to be added to the release list, so he added the name and faxed it in to league offices in New York. The error was not discovered until after the move was official. Accidents happen.

I buy into the whole picture, and as a whole, PFT still sucks.

Regardless of if they got a handful of articles right.

I've said it on numerous sites about a dozen times...I didnt want Moses cut.

But lets not be idiots here, you did watch the preseason, right?

Richardson and Clemons clearly out played the guy, and earned spots over Moses and Huntley.

Im dissapointed in throwing a first day pick away, but I'll be the first one to trust Kiffin and Ryan, knowing their track record so far this off season. They both stated early on that the best players would make the team...It seems they decided who those guys were once Moses started to go invisible around game 1.

Sounds like crap but if it did come from KNBR we'll hear more if it has legs. They actually do have sources...

Doesn't one error = two errors if this is true? Wouldn't that have put us at 52 unless there was also someone left on who was supposed to be cut?

Also couldn't we just claim him on waivers, as we were first in line? Maybe this is prohibited by rule, but I wouldn't guess why.

This is a BS Rumor.
Besides the points listed above, a bit of fact checking and the whole story disappears.
Jeff Birren is an ex-law professor at Southwestern who has been an attorney for the Raiders for 22 years and is currently the General Counsel for the team Citations here . This dude does NOT man the Fax machine. If it were a contract than maybe he's involved (he's listed as being involved with JRuss contract), but faxing a cut-down list? No freakin way.
More than likely someone just looked up a name on the Raiders.com site and picked a name listed under Admin and started the rumor. Should have picked Benny Hong or Monica Sweetwyne, at least that would have been funny. Shame on KNBR for repeating it without checking it out. Additionally Don Johnson is in year 1 with the Raiders. Would a 22 year Raiders front office big wig (read: you don't make it 22 years with Al without understanding how things run and through whom) take a firsties word for gospel and then act on it irrevocably? Nonsense.
Also KK's explanation of the cut-down process (people in a room - make their points - come to consensus) is what I've heard over and over every year from teams, the stories usually focusing on one coach's impassioned support for a player, and not from lists made and emailed around and then faxed by the lead counsel. KK is a perfectionist and would not do anything this bass akwards.
As far as I'm concerned this is put to bed. Make the Rep rain.

MOSES WASN'T CUT BY MISTAKE

Despite from Internet rumors and reports that the Raiders accidentally released defensive end Quentin Moses, the team's third-round pick in the 2007 draft, an industry source tells us that the cutting of the rookie was not the result of a mistake.

Moses received a $610,000 signing bonus when he signed with the Raiders, and will keep that money as he heads to the Cardinals, who claimed him on waivers. For the Cardinals, it made their decision to dump third-rounder Buster Davis (who also received a $610,000 signing bonus) a wash.

This isn't like last year--remember when Shell and Co. traded Doug Gabriel to the Patriots right before the season opener? And then Moss broke out with the "there's something fishy going on around here" comment? There's too much cohesiveness and optimism around the Raiders organization this season to put much stock into comments made from dubious Internet sites whose main jobs are to garner readership by reporting unsubstantiated stories--

If the rumor is true, then it is another example of the lack of organization within the organization, ala, the JRuss contract negotiation. If Johnson screwed up, why does he still have a job? If the rumor is true, then the organization didn't want Moses whacked either. another reason to question who is really running the how and how much of grip that person has on day to day stuff.

S & B
It is not true. It's all BS and poorly crafted BS. See above.
Added-
Furthermore, the guy that posted it, Silver N Crack - at 2:45 yesterday on KFFL - lives in Washington DC. Even if he was on the internet listening, the Giants game had barely ended when he said it was 'just on KNBR' even though the station was still in post game interviews. Completely made up BS.

Seriously, of all the contrived rumors I have seen, this may be the farthest out there in tinfoil hat land... To believe a coach that is so detailed orientated and so anal-retentive that he called the fringe players that DID make the team to inform them of making the squad wouldn't be hands on right to the very end of the process is plain silly...

If any of you actually put credance into it, be sure to call me, Dog! I am the sole beneficiary of $15 Million that is deposited in a security and finance company in Cotonoun Benin Nigeria... In exchange for standing in on my behalf to claim the deposit from the security company, I will give you 27% of the total money! All I need is for you to send me your full and direct financial and personal information to get things rolling!..

Yeah, that is right. Doubt anything the head coach says, but take as gospel anything stated on a message board, or anything PFT posts. You can polish PFT all u want, but they reported Terry Bradshaw dead, named Mike Sherman the Cards coach, and have scooped the media on Favre's retirement roughly 4 times. And that is just the recent fuckups. Is a little reasoning too much to ask? Darius and Moses? Those names have Al Davis written all over them. Use your damn brains.
