Al Daivis talked some in this article. Very strange but one thing he said kind of got my attention:

We've got things to do, and it's gonna be big, but we'll get it done," he continued. "You've to look at it the way I have to look at it, not the way you'll look at it necessarily. But in any event, I'll get it done. I want to win, and I will. I always have."
It's always news when Al talks to the media. This was a little different but it tells me he's aware of what needs to be done...I wonder if he's been reading here too? "Something big"? To me that means head coach. Gonna be interesting how Al maneuvers after the season is over.

Usually I find Al Davis to be a very inspirational speaker, but after rereading his comments in that article several times, I'll admit to wondering if there is a secret decoder ring needed here... Maybe it's just me, but I didn't get it...

Actually you can listen to the entire interview on this link:

Just click on Al's picture...

The old boy isn't looking all that well, but he's still got a sense of humor... Interesting takes in there:

"Morrison will be a Pro Bowler but we're still not able to use him the way we plan to."

Hmm, protected ala Ray Lewis behind two monster DT's?...

Made a comment about Nnamdi giving up a catch to Holt because the DE on that side didn't close....

The way Al was tunning through the defensive lineup of the 83 team kinda made me think he wants to take the D to another level... "We have three Pro Bowlers on D but that's not enough."...

Sniped at Carl Stewart because of some things he had said about how letting Gabe go...

It actually made me feel better about things listening to Al... I dunno, maybe it's a case of hearing what I wanted to hear by reading between the lines... Hopefully if Al has some kind of grand plan, we can actually implement it because we're swimming uphill against a shitstorm of publisized negativity as far as signing free agents go...

Calvin Johnson is big, isn't he like 6'5" 230 lbs? :D

"Morrison will be a Pro Bowler but we're still not able to use him the way we plan to."

I listened to it but I thought he was referring to Howard here. Said #53...going to be a star...a pro-bowler for sure...not able to use him like we plan to in the future (maybe strongside down the road? Bing to weakside?)...then he said something positive about Morrison. Anyway thats what I heard.

I think he is going to dump one of the following or possibly all three, Shell, Moss or Lombardi. That sounds like what he is referring to. He may not be making all the right choices but Al is still the man in my book. He wants to win and he seems to understand that drastic things are gonna have to happen before the start of next season. Calvin Johnson this year, if we stink again... McFadden next.

What's the deal? I only see the Art Shell press conference in that link. Speaking of which why does art roll his eyes and look at the ceiling when he's waiting for a question to be asked?

He is just asking God to deliver him from Oakland.

I don't see an Al interview either...

I can see why some of you need your significant other to hold your shoulders and aim you at the toilet while you pee...

There's 5 little pictures of Art under the play screen... Next to those little pictures is an arrow that takes you to the entire list...

That or that tricky 'See all' button that takes you to the entire list...

That's how interpreted it as well... said that Morrison was going to be all right... but he was definitely more positive about Howard, even though Davis wouldn't refer to Howard by name. I think it's a Raider thing or a Warren Sapp thing where rookies aren't supposed to get any attention from the media.

I thought the best take was Davis admitting that Sapp wouldn't let him not be impressed with the year Sapp is having. Glad to see that Sapp has Davis' ear. That'll be key when it's time to lead pipe Shell.

He also mentioned that Aso took a year longer to develop than he expected... that said, I don't think he gets a spot on the Pro Bowl team. Younger guys tend to get on the year after they earned it.

Thanks SoCal. HBoiy couldn't even post the correct link. Too much sun yesterday I think. I'm gonna listen to it now. :D

Guess Al isn't too high on Gabriel. He complained about "the guy making a mistake"..."the guy should have gotten out of bounds at the end of the game"...that was Gabriel. Right there tells you something. The old man doesn't miss much.

Oh for Christ's sake...you're such a "techie"... :p

Ya gotta admit SoCal's link was more effective.

I think the old man was having fun with that reporter Carl Steward who blasted the org for trading Gabriel.

Thanks for the link, HB.

For the record, I used the arrow icons. I'll await my Mensa membership card in the mail.

Thanks for the link HB, even if it wasn't easy enough for some to follow. It's great to hear him talk and a shame that we don't get to hear it more often. I wonder what the somethig big is?
