Get us a damn player in the first...seriously.

I think that's the least you owe all of us, not some reach, not some track star, not a kicker, I'd actually be okay with a Heisman trophy winner :D, but that's not very likely. Get us a football player, worked damn well with Morrison.

M. Williams, Ngata, or Hawk...anything else is a major screwup.

We have heard the cliches that the greatness of the Raidahs is in it's future...well, be like Missouri and show me something!

Lienert (can I dream?)
Williams
Ngata
Hawk
Fergueson

That is my order of perference..

Kiper makes the call...

I heard today on ESPN radio (for what it's worth) that Kiper's BIG board has it like this:

Houston: Bush
New Orleans: Leinart
Tennessee: Young
NY Jets: Ferguson
Green Bay: Mario Williams :(
Raiders: A.J. Hawk

I could live with that. If Al will actually take a true linebacker like A.J. Hawk I'd be satisfied. I would love Williams but it's beginning to look like a pipe dream I'm afraid. Green Bay is my biggest fear to take Williams and it looks like I may not the only one thinking along those lines.

But then this place has it reversed. So....

I remember hearing somewhere...just a rumor I am sure, that LenDale White came out in the draft because GB was looking to take him 5th overall...I am bucking for that.

I am afraid that someone may actually look to jump us to get Mario Williams...but the nice little crazy alter scenario I came up with brings in John Abraham via free agency and maybe Ngata or Hawk?? I know, I am a goon.

Not at all. In fact the John Abraham idea is pretty good. That would really solidify our DL and make them a terror IMO. Who knows what NY is going to do with Abraham. then we could take Hawk or Ngata at number six. Mmmmmm.

Again I think Mario Williams is going to be gone before we have a crack at him.

And don't forget we still have this coin flip thing to sort out. I'm still not clear on WTF happened. ESPN reported the coin flip took place and Oakland won giving them the sixth overall pick. Now there are reports that the coin flip is to take place at the Super Bowl. Why? Did they or didn't they flip the coin? Or, is this just for show at the SB and the Raiders really did win the toss and get #6? Who knows. the NFL works in strange ways.

There is always the possibility that if Al really wants Mario that he pull a last minute trade up a spot or two but that seems unlikely.

And you know how Al can get enamored with Heisman Trophy winners and USC players. Matt Leinart shouldn't be completely forgotten although I don't know what the Raiders could do to move up to #2. Just some thoughts.

I agree that getting Williams is a long shot. Even if Green Bay has their sights set on LenDale White I doubt it will be with the fifth pick. Undoubtedly they would trade down with someone who wanted a shot at Mario. Actually it wouldn't surprise me if NY took Williams at four. He seems versatile enough for a "NE" style defense.

I'm starting to warm to the idea of drafting Hawk. I'm usually not a big proponent of making large investments in LB's but he appears to be special by all accounts. However, given the choice I would still go with Ngata if Williams is gone.

My only concern about signing John Abraham is that we would be a little light at DE with him & Burgess. We would HAVE to draft Ngata to get some beef along the line.

Of course Tommy Kelly & Bobby Hamilton would see plenty of reps at DE on run downs to help Abraham/Burgess.

Shit, that sounds like a great idea to me. Could you imagine 3rd & Long with Abraham & Burgess around the corner and Tommy Kelly and Warren Sapp up the gut? Whew !!!

This sort of philosophy powered the Colts quite a long way, and we don't have the smallish linebackers that they do.

I think if Marinelli is the HC or DC, I think he'd prefer this kinda front also, very similar to Spires and Simeon Rice.

The Mouth that Roared!

Crossbones - How about our #6 and that stiff Jerry Porter?
Yeah I think we're both down on Porter.

I'm really disappointed how he played and the lack of heart he exhibited (IMO). He got his money and said he would show everybody - -well he hasn't. He has a nice game at 8 catches for 130 yards and then disappears for 3 games in a row. WTF?

I'm not ready to throw him out of Oakland but I expect a lot more for Jerry "The Mouth" next season.

Abraham...ugh. Two DE w/ durability concerns. Abraham's "I would have played hurt, but I didn't want to risk getting hurt worse during a contract year." garbage has forever turned me off to this guy. Screw him

KVB, Darren Howard, 2nd round guys like Tapp...just not Abraham. Please.

I think Porter's lack of heart/effort is an example of Moss' influence on the team. But, that's just me.

I have to disagree with that, he seemed to lose focus alot with Rice and Brown here too, his only big season was in a contract year, just remember that.

I think its more a result of receiving that huge contract and his "star in my own mind" attitude. He has been dogging it since day one of training camp.
