1: Who leads the Oakland Raiders in rushing this year?

The more I think of it, the more I realize how murky the situation is...Fargas? LJ? Rhodes? An up and coming Michael Bush?

My prediction: Lamont Jordan. I doubt he breaks 1000 yards in rushing, (The whole RBBC thing) but I say he does enough to hold off the other guys...

2: Who leads the Raiders in passing yards this year?

Another weird one I was thinking about. If we struggle early it could be Russell. It could be McCown. Maybe Walter?

I'll go with Josh McCown and his 12 starts...

3: Who's your suprise player to make the roster? Suprise cut?

Last year you had Kevin Huntley and Robert Thomas emerge, and then Danny Clark getting cut out of nowhere.

Guys like Tommy Kelly, Kevin Boothe, Terdell Sands, Ronald Curry, Chris Carr and Barry Sims have risen out of nowhere to start for us or be contributors in the past.

My suprise guy: Marquice Cole at CB. He's got the wheels and the size to make it. Was a preseason Thorpe hopeful last year. Named to the all big ten team. 3.5 year starter...

Im gonna wager a guess to say he might contribute earlier than Bowie...

On the flipside I see a guy like Courtney Anderson getting cut by the new regime. Adkisson and Madsen might bring a dynamic 'seam splitting' type of game, Stewart and Wakefield can block and Anderson is mediocre at all of it...

He's gone, IMO. I also think Crockett is outta here. I love the guy, but he makes too much money as a backup RB/FB.

4: Do we finally win a division game? If so, against who?

I'm going to go with the declining Chiefs at home in week 7.

5: Who starts opposite of Derrrick Burgess?

My guess is Kevin Huntley until week 5. Then Quintin Moses for rest of the year.

Last little note:

The average age according to Raiders.com of our 35 biggest contributors (I just went through the roster and picked guys I think will play big minutes) is about 26.5. We actually got about a year and a half younger this season with ammount of draft picks we had and players who might contribute.

Including such gems as Zach Miller (21) Russell (21) Huff (24) Washington (24) Morrison (25) Howard (23) Asomugha (25) Kelly (26) Moses (23) Burgess (28) and Sands (27)

There will essentially be only 3 major contributors over the age of 30. Sapp, Sims and Newberry. That is something any fan can love...:D

I actually just went through a ton of the rosters on NFL.com

Even the supposed youngest teams like the Packers, Titans, Chargers and Niners will field older (30+) starters like Driver, Tauscher, Favre, Woodson, Mawae, Olsen, Harper, Herndon, Goff, Jamal Williams, Oben, Neal, Walt Harris, Bryan Young, Derek Smith, Larry Allen, etc.

I think we might officially have the youngest team in the league. I just hope we can make the talent into production soon.

1. Oaklands leading rusher will be Dom Rhodes. He seems like he is hungry and Lamont seems he is literally hungry. Dom Rhodes 600 yards LJ 550/

2. Josh McCown (barring injury) should lead us in passing.

3. Kyle Shotwell seems like a baller that the new regime would appreciate. I have to agree that Courtney Anderson no longer deserves a shot on this team. But for the sake of being different Alvis Whitted!

4. Yes. We will win multiple AFC west games this year beating KC twice. And either Denver or SD once.

5. I think you nailed this one. Im not voting for Brayton.

1: Who leads the Oakland Raiders in rushing this year?

Rhodes. Jordan will get hurt or talk himself into the doghouse. Bush is a year away and Fargas is still best used in small doses.

2: Who leads the Raiders in passing yards this year?

Josh McCown.

3: Who's your suprise player to make the roster? Suprise cut?

Surprise to make the roser? -- Josh Booty, QB. I won't be suprised to see Walter get the axe after this latest surgery. He was a bit of a primadonna malcontent at ASU and now that he's #3 on the depth chart it wouldn't surprise me to hear him start to make some noise.

Surprise cut? -- Besides Andrew Walter I'll say Kevin Boothe. For some reason the guy is either not getting the opporunities to get in the starting mix on the )O-line or isn't adapting well to the zone blocking scheme. I thought he looked good last season but it appears he's fallen off the radar completely.

4: Do we finally win a division game? If so, against who?

Yes, against the Broncos and Chiefs.

5: Who starts opposite of Derrrick Burgess?

Huntley would be the logical choice, but I'm going to say Tommy Kelly starts at DE then slides inside on 3rd downs. Basically they'd be running two 3-man rotations with Sands, Brayton, Kelly at the other DT spot opposite Sapp and Kelly, Huntley, Moses at the RDE spot opposite Burgess.

Man i hope your right. I would like to see Kelly at DE in running situations. Burgess and Moses wouldnt be enough to stop LT and Larry Jo. I actually think he is better suited at DE.

1: Who leads the Oakland Raiders in rushing this year?

I concur with Rhodes... I don't think he'll get 1000 yards though... I think it's going to be RB by committee with our leading rusher landing in the 700-800 and several others a little behind that...

2: Who leads the Raiders in passing yards this year?

Josh McCown.... I have this feeling he'll do well enough to spark some "we just should have just traded for him and drafted Lord Calvin or Joe Thomas debates"...

3: Who's your suprise player to make the roster? Suprise cut?

My surprise cut: Jarrod Cooper
Between BJ Ward, Darnell Bing, Colin Branch and Eric Frampton, we've added enough players to the mix where the one dimensional special teams player Cooper will be in trouble...

Surprise to make the roster: Curtis Brown
Should Rhodes win the primary RB spot as expected by most, we may decide to move what could a potential headache in Jordan... Fargas and Justin Griffin could get the carries Jordan would have.... Brown is a guy that can return kicks and is very adept as a receiver and in pass pro and may surprise people in a Randy Jordan type of way...

4: Do we finally win a division game? If so, against who?

Denver, week two... Cutler gets knocked the fug out...

5: Who starts opposite of Derrrick Burgess?

Huntley... and I have a feeling once he gets in there, we won't be able to get him off the field....

1: Who leads the Oakland Raiders in rushing this year?
I too say Dom Rhodes will lead the team in rushing....890 yards 5 tds. I see LJ playing second fiddle and think he works his way to the dog house. LJ chips in 460 yards and 3tds.

2: Who leads the Raiders in passing yards this year?

Josh McCown....It may be all smoke and mirrors right now, but Kiffin has major Wood for this kid. But the first sign of contiunous losses as in like 3-4 in a row or within close proximity, Davis will be on the phone to get his $60million dollar QB on the field.

3: Who's your suprise player to make the roster? Suprise cut?

My surprise to make the roster:
HB nailed it....Curtis Brown. Kids built a little lanky, has good speed and can catch. Reminds me of a smaller Harvery Williams minus the neck. Could be a real good 3rd down back than can run, catch out of the backfield or you can split him wide and mismatch the guy.

Surprise cut: If Lamont didn't have the dollars tied to him, I think he would talk his way off the roster. My surprise cut is going to be Crockett or possibly Mike Williams. Although I think Williams gets a one year pass from coach Kiff not to make an ass out of him so I will stick with Crockett.

4: Do we finally win a division game? If so, against who?

Week 7 verse KC as we go into that week at 3-2 and then go on a 3 game win streak. Thats right I said it, we beat the friggen Bears at home 13-9.

5: Who starts opposite of Derrrick Burgess?

Tommy Kelly....I think they mix Huntley all year from both sides relieving Burgess and Kelly. Personally I think Huntley plays better from the LE spot over the RE spot but Burgess isn't going anywhere.

On a side note:

Picked up my yearly bible this year...The Lindy's profootball preview.

A couple things to note: I think its a sign to come, but Lindy's thinks we've improved a ton. Lindy's has us as a middle of the pack, 3rd in our division team ahead of the Queefs.

Such things as underrated DL, top tier linebackers and deep WR's were listed.

Im excited.

They picked the Ravens to win it all though, which I disagree with.

The Ravens offensive line is going to have to really come together for that to happen. They are young and only have Ogden to lead that group. Everyone else is pretty green. Willis might help because Jamal Lewis was looking terrible last year when i watched him. The Defense is still going ot be top 3 and that always helps.

1: Who leads the Oakland Raiders in rushing this year?

Tough call between Bush and Rhodes. If Bush can get into the roation by week 7 or 8, he could have a late season surge. Here's to hoping for Bush.

2: Who leads the Raiders in passing yards this year?

Russell. If McCown doesn't put up W's right out of the gate, Davis is going to do his thang....

3: Who's your suprise player to make the roster? Suprise cut?

Don't know enough about the roster to guess who will make it... but my surprise cut (if you want to call it that) is Mike Williams. My surprise benching is Gallery. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts the season riding the pine... though I'm sure Davis would force him into the lineup at some point.

4: Do we finally win a division game? If so, against who?

No.

5: Who starts opposite of Derrrick Burgess?

No clue.

COme on know surely you can be homeristic enough to give us a home KC win! Our defense vs their crumbling offense and QB situation/ mehhh defense. I am willing to wager anyone we beat KC one time this year. But i respect your brutal realness. I am not screaming playoffs or anything but a division win better happen this year or i will question this whole new regime.

1: Who leads the Oakland Raiders in rushing this year?

I think that LaMont Jordan will end up leading the team in rushing yards. Dom Rhodes is going to be the change of pace guy. Neither will break 1,000

2: Who leads the Raiders in passing yards this year?

Josh McCown, unless he really sucks early in the season. I don't think he will, though, so he's my pick. Even if JaMarcus starts this year, it won't be until after week 10.

3: Who's your suprise player to make the roster? Suprise cut?

Suprise to make the roster is Kyle Shotwell.

Surprise cut will be Tony Stewart.

4: Do we finally win a division game? If so, against who?

Yep... In week 2. I'M IN! you cowards!

5: Who starts opposite of Derrrick Burgess?

Kevin Huntley. If not Huntley, I won't be Moses... we'll be back to Brayton, IMO.

If I were to pick a game that we had the best chance to win, I'd say week 2 against Denver because nobody really will know what to expect from Kiffin and co this early in the season. I think the team will be significantly better than last year... but I'm not counting on us competing with teams built around running the ball... which kind of puts us behind the 8-ball in the West.

I agree that KC is by far the weakest of the 3 divisional opponents. Again, I just don't like how we match up against them. As good as our defense has been, stopping the run has been their achilles. Our weakness against KC's strength isn't something I'd put money on. Hey, if I'm wrong... that'll be a welcome surprise.

Their o-line is not the same. Its going to be a weakness for them this year. LJ is going to be crying by week 5. I agree we cant throw stones at anyone drafting #1 overall, but our defense will be the best unit on the field for either team. Thats gotta count for something when you have a O minded head coach like Kiffin coming in. Hopefully he will ride this D to a few wins.

1: Who leads the Oakland Raiders in rushing this year?

Jordon and Rhoades will be close to each other both over 700 or 800 a piece but I think Rhoades has more big play potential so Rhoades.

2: Who leads the Raiders in passing yards this year?

Josh McCown will start ever game and take us into the playoffs!

3: Who's your suprise player to make the roster? Suprise cut?

Suprise to make the roster Alvis Whited - Somehow he keeps making the team and I'm hoping me saying this out loud is a jinx.

Suprise to get Cut - Zack Crockett - He was great for a lot of years but it's time.

4: Do we finally win a division game? If so, against who?

Yeah which one of those homo teams we play first!
So I guess it is Denver week two Sunday Sept 16th

5: Who starts opposite of Derrrick Burgess?

I think Brayton get the Start game one, he gives up the spot to Quentin.

First of all: NO WAY GALLERY IS SITTING!!He is a zone and cut blocking guy all the way, he'll thrive in this system, if not this year, next!!

RUSHING LEADER: I love having a RB by committee!! And it suits our guys better. That said, LJ still reaps the benefits of being well rested from time to time and leads the team with about 700 yards.

PASSING LEADER: JRuss all the way!! With Big Ben, Young, Leinart and Co. all doing well outta the gate, no doubt that JRuss is starting by Week 5 and lets his arm do the talking.

SUPRISE ROSTER AND CUT: I think we'll all be super shocked when Tyler Brayton is gone come September. We drafted a huge amount of DE's this year and had some other guys step up last season. He's a goner. And even more suprising is when Oren O'Neal wins the starting FB job and Zak Crockett gets whacked. It has been real Big Z, but your time is up!

DO WE WIN A DIV. GAME?: Oh hell yes!! Denver at least once and KC TWICE!!

WHO STARTS OPPOSITE BURGESS?: I think it is Huntly or Moses

I'm sure this D will be good for a few wins too... but as for KC's OLine... I'm one of those The-RB-Makes-The-OLine groupies. As long as Johnson is carrying the load, I think he'll make that OLine look better than they really are (kind of like Tomlinson and that very average Charger OLine).

I think its the fact that most lineman are better run blockers than pass blockers. Not saying it doesnt have anything to do with LJ, i think its a little bit of both his skill and the line being solid in run blocking more so than pass. Same for the chargers o-line. Which is slightly better than average imo. but not great though.
