even though i rooted for them against the pansies i am so glad they are getting their butt kicked again for 3rd yr in row in playoffs. steelers shutting them out 31-17 :D

It's hard to root for Pittsburg, but I am very pleased to see the doncs lose today.

With that done, let's get the 2006 season started.

Sorry BD but the best team won today.

Here's the deal...I am rooting for Carolina today and then will root for them to beat the Steelers in the SB.

That would put this lousy season to bed without some hated rival winning the whole damn enchilada.

Crossbones - How does passing on Ben Roethlisberger to take the Big Stiff in Robert Gallery feel today?

We must do whatever it takes to acquire the #2 pick and draft Matt Lienert. Period.

Well we've managed to hijack this thread but that's OK with me...

As you might remember I was a big Roethlisberger guy two years ago. I was hoping Al would finally pick the franchise QB we have never taken high in the first round. Instead he decided to go the "safe" route and take the LT (which we needed). I was a little disappointed but thought it was an OK pick. People say Roethlisberger wouldn't have been this good with the Raiders. Probably true. But he's a talent. Had we picked him in a year or two we could have built around him. But oh no. People can say whatever they want about Ben but that kid is the truth. Now that the Steelers put the ball in his hands these last two playoff games we're seeing how effective he can be. Shame. Damn shame.

Also, there were reports that the Redskins were offering their LT (Samuels) to switch places with the Raiders in the first round. that would have netted us the LT we needed (surely as good as Gallery in retrospect) and had an opportunity to draft Sean Taylor to boot. Damn it. At this point I don;t know how good Gallery is. to date he has shown only that he is an average tackloe in this league. I was OK with us drafting a guy who was suppose to be a nasty mofo...he might end up to be a good tackle but clearly he is no Art Shell. Let's be clear about that right now.

I'd like to agree but there are a few reasons why it's a problem from my perspective. First, Al Davis would probably have to think Leinart is another John Elway in order to do this. I don't think he is although I love Leinart and think he'll be a very good QB in the NFL.

Secondly, we'd probably have to give up way to much to move up that far. At this point, we need all the football players we can get our hands on so we can turn this thing around. And thirly, when are we going to find out if these QB's we've been drafting are worth a shit? We took Tui in the seond round and now Walter in the third. Isn't it aobut time they see if these players are as good as they thought to take both on day one of the draft. It doesn't make any sense to me.

As I've mentioned before, right now, today, it looks like Collins gives us the best chance to win while we continue to fix things. OL, Safety, LB...we have some problems.

Wow...Denver really got their asses handed to them, huh?

:D

After evading himself all season, Jake Plummer bumped right into the ghost of seasons past. Couldn't have happened at a more public time. Might just have made himself a few dollars less in the future.

My prediction is he'll exhibit more of the same next season and Denver and their fans won't get a sniff of the playoffs with him under center again.

I guess the Seahawk fever in Washington has not really hit you, eh. I notice most Raiders fans in Washington hate the Seahawks. Why is that? Seahawks are no longer in the AFC and Raiders and Seahawks never really had a rivalry since both teams stunk then.

I am so happy Seattle won. I hope they win the Super Bowl. :p

I never in my wildest dreams would think the Steelers would give the Broncos a whooping let alone winning this game at Denver. I know the Steelers were good, but I figured the Broncos would do fine at home. I am so glad the Steelers pulled this one out. It's good to see Cowher get an opportunity to win a SB and it would be awesome to see Jerome win his SB as he is about to finish a fantastic career.

Steelers did what they did last week. They got big plays from Ben and their defense came up big. Everyone came up huge for the Steelers like last week.

Ben just amazes me everytime I watch him. He just makes play. He has that cool persona about himself. I just like the way he leads his team on the field. This guy is simply money when he is out there throwing the field. You can't tell why the Steelers on offense just look confident when he is on the field. For him to do this in just his second year is sick. He has a great football career ahead of him. He will definitely get lot of SB rings when all is said and done. This guy just has it and it has showed in the playoffs. Ben has like only one loss on the road in his career. You have to be pretty damn good to lose one game on the road in a span of two years. He did a great job in an hostile environment. This is becoming something that he is mastering which bodes well for him and his team for years to come.

Steelers defense made Jake Plummer be Jake Plummer today. Sure Jake did well in the fourth quarter, but the Steelers defense used their trademark play in blitzing Jake all day long. They frustrated him pretty good in the second quarter.

As good as Jake is, I just wonder if Denver can ever get to the promise land with him at QB. It seems he is just like Dilfer. They just want him to throw the ball at the running back and then make a play periodically. You just can't throw the ball to the running back and win games in the postseason. You gotta throw and make plays. I am just not sure if Jake is that guy. Denver got the defense, running game, and the OL, but they may have to upgrade on QB. I think Denver should try to get Daunte Culpepper or Chad Pennington. Those two might be their missing link. I think Daunte would do well under Shanahan's offense.

I am shocked at how bad Denver played. I thought they would start off well and held on. It wasn't the case. Broncos had a great season. They will definitely be contending for a SB championship. I just don't know if they have the QB to lead the way.

Steelers are simply a special team. They get contributions from everyone. They know how to make plays when they have to. They just get the job done. I wish the Vikings would have a team like that.

C'mon, Angel. You got two very good teams out there. How could it be boring? They deserve it. It's not like those two teams got lucky. They beat very good teams to get there.
