Right now if hes there I think Zach Miller is our man

Brian Leonard is my 3rd round consideration.

with some FA help and these 2 opening holes and catching balls I'll be happy.

One other guy that interests me is Earl Everett of the no helmet tackle fame. I like his motor and think that he'd platoon well on both sides.

If we don't go Peterson in 1, Bush in 2 would be interesting.

Still not sure I wouldn't take Leonard in 2.

Jumping up from 2 to snare LaMarr Woodley wood give me a woodley.

I like Walt Flanagan in the second round my self.......

Sorry I just had to.......Kevin Smith is just to funny Clerks II was great

I'd love to see us do one of those trade downs were we slide down 10 to 15 picks or so and pick up an extra 3rd. Some of the trades from last year...

#34 for #43 + Jeff Faine
#35 for #53 + #189 + 2007 2nd rounder
#36 for #52 + #75
#37 for Jevon Walker
#37 + #139 for #47 + #93 + #148
#39 for #45 + #116

I'm not as impressed by the 3rd round talent as i am by the guys available in the beginning of the 2nd. Woodley would be great in my eyes too but we'd have to give up too much to move up for him I'm guessing... unless its a 5th or less I'd rather stay put.

A 4th round pick wouldn't be too much to ask. Porter wouldn't be too much to ask.

Gotta pay to move up. It's a sellers market.

Also, Banter. Pray why would Denver trade us their best offensive player?

I was just listing the trades that happened last year at the top of the 2nd. As for us. Our MO would be trade our 2nd and 3rd to move up and select somebody that probably would have fell to us anyway if we'd have stood pat. Look at us move up 7 spots to nab Greg Olson.

Since there were so many teams that just missed the playoffs last year I think there are going to be a lot of teams trying to move up to grab that player that is the missing piece this year.

Tackle or Center.

I actually think a real, real good WR may be there, and that wouldn't upset me.

It all hinges on our first round selection (Obviously) but I would love a pass catching versatile TE.

I'd put my second round hopes like this:

1a: Zach Miller
1b: Greg Olsen
2: Mike Bush (Lets not forget this 6-2 250 pounder was a top ten consideration prior to his injury...I think he might sneak into the late first ala McGahee)
3: Josh Beekman
4: Robert Meachem (First round talent, but with CJ/Dwayne Bowe/Shark/Sid Rice/Ginn and Jarrett, this guy will fall undeservedly)

Third round is all Brian Leonard, Doug Free, Johnny Lee Higgins or Kyle Young.

It's got to be a TE unless we pick JRuss first, then I'd go with Michael Bush. I'm thinking Al may deal away one of our 3rds to move back into the second which would give us three picks in the first two rounds.

I heard that Bush is still walking with a limp after his injury and the jury is still out on him. A lot of people were surprised that he is declaring for the NFL as he could raise his stock again by playing college ball next year and showing people he's all the way back. However the departure of Bernard Petrino may have forced Bush's hand and right or wrong he's going pro. Could be a risky proposition that high in the second round. For me, right now, the TE from Arizona State (6'5, 260) would be a nice pick.

Bush will be 24 by the start of the season, if I remember correctly.

He HAS to come out, and is worth the risk of a second rounder.

I liken him to Steven Jackson without as much pass catching ability.

When did we get an extra third?

Its a one in ten shot that C-Wood warrants a third rounder for compensation, and even so, you cant trade a comp pick, so we'd essentially be trading the first pick in round 3...

I think we might trade one of our two WR's for a third though, if thats what you mean...

Why is it a 1 in 10 shot?

I'm gonna try and see what AdamJT13 says about it over at KFFL, but I seem to remember him saying it had to do with the contract signed, and whether or not WE signed some big ticket item.

That Adam guy usually comes out with his comp pick predictions in March. I just wish we hadn't signed Johnstone then we'd get an extra 6th rounder for the loss of Renaldo Hill.

As I recall, we didn't get any big ticket items, so I think there's a good chance we get a pick at the end of the 3rd.

We should get a 3rd. And if the league can't award 32 compensatory picks then we'll get the 1st non-compensatory pick at the end of the 7th round.

I really think one of our first 3 picks needs to be on the O-Line.

I don't think that this will effect the comp pick for Hill, since I'm fairly certain that you have to pick up a player equal or better than the player you lost at that position. Picking up a quality player at other positions shouldn't affect you as far as I know.

Position has nothing to do with it. At least according to AdamJT13, KFFL's comp pick genius. Quote:

As the NFL explains, compensatory picks are awarded to teams that lose more or better compensatory free agents than they acquire. The number of picks a team can receive equals the net loss of compensatory free agents, up to a maximum of four. Compensatory free agents are determined by a secret formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors. Not every free agent lost or signed is covered by the formula.

Although the formula has never been revealed, by studying the compensatory picks that have been awarded since they began in 1993, I’ve determined that the primary factor in the value of the picks awarded is the average annual value of the contract the player signed with his new team, with small adjustments for playing time and postseason honors. A simple method of determining for which qualifying free agents a team will be compensated is this -- for every player signed, cancel out a lost player of similar value. For example, if a team signs one qualifying player for $2 million per season and loses two qualifying players, one who got $1.8 million per season and one who got $4 million per season, the team will be compensated for the $4 million player.

If you do a 'compensatory' search in the KFFL draft forum, you can find the entire post.
