25-26 Dubs quest for 5: The NBA thread

I hate to see Steph play elsewhere and I don't think he's ready to retire yet but Dubs will be in purgatory for the near future if they don't get an infusion of some young talent in there. Their drafts have been horrible and they haven't been able to develop any of the young players.

As @Chris_77 alluded to, I think you have to sit down with Steph and Dray and see where they are.

It would be so hard to see Steph play somewhere else, but if I had to pick, I'd like to see him go somewhere like the Knicks and try to win one more ring with them. Obviously it would have to be somewhere where they got some draft picks back in return.

Give him another shot, he deserves it. Draymond too. This team is toast and it’s time to get what you can.
 
So glad I checked out on the Blazers years ago.

I don't know if we have the trade assets and salary match to make it work. Would probably have to give up a shit load of future #1's and mortgage the future.

Because that's a pipe dream. We gonna send Kuminga and some picks for Giannis and they will say yes? lol
 
Just seeing mentioned multiple times on ESPN, FS1 and heard it mentioned on sports radio. Don't understand what all is involved, just thought I'd see something here.

The NBA salary cap doesn't work like other sports. It's really convoluted. @Chris_77 has a pretty good understanding of it. If you trade for Giannis, you have to give the Bucks back the same $$ of salaries in order to match Giannis's incoming salary. The only player besides Curry we have that is remotely close to making what Giannis is making is Jimmy Buckets and he's out until the middle of next season.

So in order to make the deal work we have to give them enough salaried players to match what Giannis is making. Obviously the Bucks would have to want some of those guys, plus will demand a shit load of draft picks.

Then you have to replace all the guys you traded. It's really not that easy.

Yeah I've been seeing the hype but this has been going on around Giannis for a few years now and it just doesn't seem realistic that we have the assets to trade.

Well supposedly Bucks are listening to offers but they aren't going to trade him for a broken down Jimmy Buckets, JK and a bunch of scrubs like Podz and Moody lol. They are going to want all our draft capital for the next 4-5 years. Not to mention, Giannis will be 32 this year and seems to miss a fair share of games.
 
I've been pretty busy so haven't kept too close tabs on it, but it seems the general feeling is that Milwaukee is just gauging the market and won't entertain offers seriously until the offseason.
 
And Dubs sitting with their fingers up their ass doing nothing as usual. Giannis is a pipe dream. Bucks are going to want a kings ransom for a 32 year old that is starting to break down.
 
Hoping it's part 1 of a bigger deal. Porzingas doesn't move the needle.
