I mean I do get that the start has been underwhelming from reports but we are five practices in.

Let him build up his Jack Bech resume in a game or two before we get a new whipping boy lmfao.

In August last year Jack Bech was Cooper Kupp and Donte Thornton was taking all the tops off from Vegas to Vancouver.

You mean DL help?

Raiders traded down from 2.36 to 2.38. The first OL taken in the 2nd was not until OC L. Jones at 2.57. The Raiders picked again at 3.67 before the next listed OT or OG was taken.

Well, the statement is somewhat accurate then. SpyGuy traded down twice, first with Mia at 2.37, then with Hou at 2.48, rather than draft 2.37 OG Savaiinaea (941 snaps, 2.1% SIS, 28.4 PFF) and 2.48 OT Ersery (1006 snaps, 2.8% SIS, 59.3 PFF).

Those two logged more snaps than comp 3rds OG C. Rogers (274 snaps, 3.3% SIS, 59.6, PFF) and OT Grant (56 snaps, 5.4% SIS, 70.1 PFF). But jury’s out if either are better than the OG and OT SpyGuy got in return for trading down and drafting Bech at 2.58.

Raiders’ run D, at least off tackle and on the edges, should be good even assuming no Vea trade. Raiders will mostly be in a 4-2-5 with T. Johnson and Chinn providing solid run support. Like Den and Sea, Leonard will play a 5-2-4 on with an extra IDL on 1st down or against 12 and 21 personnel.

Maxx (6’5”/255 lbs), Paye (6’3”/265 lbs) and Walker (6’4”/240 lbs) provide great size, strength and sideline-to-sideline athleticism. Because Den’s edges, Bonitto (6’3”/240 lbs) and Cooper (6’4”/257 lbs), are smaller, are not Maxx, and are not as strong/stout as Paye, Den ranked below average in terms of nickel usage (although still its main D formation). Den’s good coverage CB and S allow Den to more often employ 5-man fronts. I’m hoping McCoy and Stukes break into the starting line-up to enable Leonard to use more 5-man fronts too.

Didn't they already state that they'll be running 3-4 or 5-2 most of the time?

That’s the “base” D. Doubt it will be used “most” of the time. All NFL teams last year mostly were in nickel, I think.

They also said it would be more like a 4-2 Under. I'm guessing we try to be #multiple again while we look for something that actually works.
 
I haven't heard anything about Raiders 2025 draft choice from William and Mary, OT Charles Grant. Heard a lot about Caleb Rogers, but nothing on Grant's progress.

Not mentioned very often. Generally a good sign for an OL, but it'd be nice to hear more about how he's doing. If he was getting his ass beat, I guess we'd hear about that. So that's something.

The starting tackles also seem to be embedded at this point. Less fanfare around guys that are solidly in the backup category now.

For me, I’m just as interested in the backup OL given the inevitability of injuries and just from a development standpoint, knowing some of these guys like Miller will eventually leave
