2026 offseason roster/depth chart

He must be a pain in the ass or something. Pats had plenty of cap space to keep him around. We had plenty cap space to keep him around. Maybe he’s one of those guys that sucks more often than not but has recently been able to make some splash plays.

SpyGuy did not cannibalize his ‘25 draft (aside from taking a chance on McCoy’s knee*). Rather, players not named Jeanty are pretty much facing the same challenge for playing time:
  • Bech WR3
  • Porter CB3*
  • Rogers OG3
  • Grant OT3
  • Thornton WR4
  • Hemingway IDL4**
  • Pegues IDL5**
**I list Tasi, Cleveland and Martin at NT and Butler, Laulu and Brooker at IDL.

I remember reading last year that Maxx Crosby was really impressed with Tonka Hemmingway. Good pass rushing skill set from the DT position. Now, with his added size (and presumably strength/power), he might be one to watch for one of our open IDL spots. I have a sneaky feeling he's going to beat out Butler, Laulu, and Booker.

Tonka is my pick on the defense as a breakout guy.

I'm going with the Arizona superstar safety duo!

They will fix our shit.
Speaking of the AZ duo, would anybody care if Dalton Johnson ended up winning our starting FS spot and Stukes ended up as our nickel (over Taren Johnson)? That's how it seemed to play out this weekend...

I was kind of expecting D. Johnson to be more of a depth piece with Stukes replacing Pola Mao. Too early to tell I suppose.

Realistically Johnson will be a depth/spot piece.

But Homer 007 thinks he's our best bet for an actual real human cover safety. He moved all over the place, stood out in coverage. Moved around, made plays. Timed and tested well. Put the kid through his paces because the incumbent safeties cant even get on a TEs hip.

Pola Mao and Chinn are fuckin LBs. Stukes might be slot/corner/safety who knows.

I hope both guys play a bunch for us.

I have higher hopes for them over Nick Kasa.

I see a place for Stukes, Johnson and Johnson all to be on the field at once along with Chinn and whomever we lineup outside at CB.

May the 5 DBs see the field in nickel. Unless T. Johnson retires, I’m guessing he’ll win his spot but not sure how long of a leash he’ll get.
