It is hard playing/learning to play CB in the NFL.

Last year 15 CB were drafted in R1 to R3. Here’s how they performed per SIS, PFF & PFR (top/bottom qualifiers highlighted):
  • 1.2 (WR) T. Hunter: DNQ*
  • 1.20 Barron: 361 snaps, 3.0% SIS, 51.5 PFF, 3 AV
  • 1.30 Hairston: 335 snaps, 4.2% SIS, 64.3 PFF, 2 AV
  • 2.47 W. Johnson: 688 snaps, 2.5% SIS, 60.8 PFF, 3 AV
  • 2.53 Morrison: 350 snaps, 1.7% SIS, 47.0 PFF, 2 AV
  • 2.61 Amos: 483 snaps, 1.4% SIS, 55.8 PFF, 2 AV
  • 3.68 Porter: 577 snaps, 2.6% SIS, 54.4 PFF, 4 AV
  • 3.73 A. Thomas: 301 snaps, 3.7% SIS, 55.1 PFF, 2 AV
  • 3.76 Revel: 310 snaps, 2.3% SIS, 35.2 PFF, 1 AV
  • 3.80 Walley: DNP
  • 3.84 Parrish: 761 snaps, 3.8% SIS, 68.5 PFF, 3 AV
  • 3.85 N. Williams: 433 snaps, 4.6% SIS, 74.5 PFF, 3 AV
  • 3.88 Ransaw: DNP
  • 3.97 J. Smith: DNQ
  • 3.102: Stout: 563 snaps, 2.7% SIS, 62.0 PFF, 2 AV
Notes:
  1. F’ing KC’s Williams was the #1 CB per SIS & PFF
  2. TB’s CB Parrish was the #1 Slot CB per each cite
  3. Raiders’ Porter was PFR’s #1 CB
*Only 162 snaps at CB; and grades not broken out between WR and CB

Last year, per Zierlein, seven OG and one OL prospect (C. Rogers) were drafted in R1 to R3 (none were drafted in R4). Below is how they faired per SIS, PFF and PFR:
  • 1.12 Booker: 928 snaps, 2.4% SIS, 76.8 PFF, 6 AV
  • 1.18 Zabel: 986 snaps, 2.6% SIS, 57.3 PFF, 7 AV
  • 1.24 Jackson: 746 snaps, 3.5% SIS, 59.4 PFF, 5 AV
  • 2.37 Savaiinaea: 941 snaps, 2.1% SIS, 28.4 PFF, 6 AV
  • 2.57 Ratledge: 1040 snaps, 3.3% SIS, 70.3% PFF, 7 AV
  • 3.81 Fairchild: 908 snaps, 2.9% SIS, 59.1 PFF, 6 AV
  • 3.89 Milum: 84 snaps, 1.2% SIS, DNQ PFF, 1 AV
  • 3.98 Rogers: 274 snaps, 3.3% SIS, 59.6 PFF, 2 AV
Notes:
  1. OG drafted in R1-R3 are expected to plug in and play. Only one of the seven barely saw the field, only one that saw the field a lot played poorly, but only one (Ratledge) played well per each metric.
  2. Rogers, who was considered a reach, only started 6 games but did not disappoint in those games.
  3. Zierlein rates Pregnon (his OG3 in this year’s draft) as high as Zabel (his OG3 last year). How much of an upgrade, if any, would he be over Rogers?
Conclusion: Seems that JPJ, Rogers, Spencer, Meredith, and McClendon provide plenty of OG depth even if Glaze does not slide inside. Coach ‘em up!

I was looking at a draft site with lists of draft prospect visits, interviews, etc. for each team. The Raiders had no OL on their list.

The moves made this offseason this year are different in kind than in years past. Nothing really exciting except Linderbaum, and he plays a non-glamorous position -- we literally hope we seldom hear name in the voice of a play-by-play guy or offical.

Contrasted with prior years, this is 'boring.'

Part of my fun will be looking at the lesser signings are going back -- as some posters do every year to shit on optimistic takes that didn't come to pass -- going to be paying attention to the doom-sayers and laugh at their posts.

The pair of linebackers we signed are pretty exciting, I think.

Pretty excited by Paye and Koonce not starting opposite each other, with Snowdon playing one down a game for Maxx.
