2026 NFL Draft (day 1)

Coaches need to win now in the NFL. All that talent on the board and McVay thinking playoffs and improving the roster.
The Simpson pick did nothing for McVay.

All what talent though. This objectively seems like a horrible first round draft overall. They addressed their glaring needs in FA by trading for and signing the KC CBs. That was their big hole and their STs last year. If they draft a DL, he won't play. It's arguably the strongest collective group in the league. Maybe Lemon, but that's about it, and you kind of have that position covered too. They might also double back with the Eagles on AJ brown even though everyone is assuming he's going to the Patriots. You covet a guard there over a QB? That's about the only position with super value there for them considering what was left.

The two shortest-armed defensive linemen in recorded draft history ever taken in the first-round were both taken by Jason Licht:

Calijah Kancey (30 5/8")
Rueben Bain Jr. (30 7/8")

Kancey hasn't been particularly good, so I think he hopes this one works out better.

Not saying I agree with all of it just throwing it out there...

Yup, they're a SB contender. Windows aren't open for long in the NFL. And Ty Simpson isn't a 'must have' type of prospect IMO. I'd be pissed if I were McVay/Stafford... I'd want talent that would help me now.

That's the thing. What do you think there helps a Super Bowl team immediately because I don't see it. Imo, even Lemon or Concepcion there would have been a reach. Simpson was a reach but at least it's the so called most important position in football.

Questionable approach to the draft. But, Snead's bonafides are established. Maybe he'll be proven right.

Inside the Rams’ selection of QB Ty Simpson at No. 13 overall — a pick months in the making. @gmfb @nflnetwork

Who knows, maybe the NYJ pull the trigger at 16. But, so what? Is Simpson that much better a prospect than Bech or the LSU kid?

Let’s say yes, he is. Is he that much better than Dart, who went 1.25 last year? GB waited to 1.24 to pick Rodgers when it had an aging Farve, and 1.26 to pick Love when it had Rodgers. Is Simpson a 2nd round pick better than Rodgers, Love and Dart, assuming he’s no Pickens?

The #Texans didn’t have to move far or give up much to acquire Keylan Rutledge. The Texans didn’t want to take any chance of losing out on a player they love. A league source said there was an actual threat that they could have potentially lost out on Rutledge within the AFC South.

The #Titans were trying to move ahead of the Texans with the intention of drafting Rutledge, per an #NFL source. The Texans wanted Rutledge throughout the draft process, per sources.

“Moving two spots was more of positioning that anything else,” Texans general manager Nick Caserio said. “We felt like there could potentially be some interest in the player, so we felt like: ‘Alright, let’s move a couple of spots.’”

Keylan Rutledge on playing center:

“Center I’m so comfortable with it. Coach Key always told me you’re gunna have to play all 3 at the next level. I was the emergency guy Senior year. And going to the Senior Bowl, taking snaps, reps there. 100% confident that I can do that. It’s just reps.”

GTFOOH. At 1.13, there was plenty of talent still on the board. Stop defending the overdraft of Simpson. Lol

I like him better than Nussmeier, Bech, and Dart coming out last year.

He will probably bust like most of them, but he flashes the ability to do NFL things.

Everything is built from the threat of the bull rush and short arms don't seem to be a deciding factor in NFL success.
But no successful 1st round DE has had such short arms. Hmmm.

Imagine this: they meet each other for the first time and as they shake hands, they bang heads. Looks like two T-Rex’s trying to shake hands. “Put’r there pal!”

“I can’t!”
