2026 NFL Draft (day 1)

Tonight is where we see if Spytek is the guy. Mendoza was as no brainer as they get. Is there a guy he really wants and feels the need to go up and get him? Or is there a pool of guys he’s lumped together that one of them can still be had after trading down?
I think it’s option B …. Just don’t do a double tap trade down.

McDonald is more than just a plug, though. I think that's been established. If that's all he was, we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

Guys that size with legitimate play making skills are rare and coveted. That we're having the conversation in the second round leans more towards plug than the alternative, IMO. Is he better than the other plugs? Probably. Is he so much better that there's real value in taking him today vs. the 80-90% version on Saturday or Sunday? I not convinced.

I chuckle thinking Snead set up his buddy’s son for life by drafting him at 1.13. And now McVey has to coach him into a career. :chuckle:

John Harbaugh on how Giants plan to use Arvell Reese: "We're going to play him at inside backer, Will linebacker. Our defense is pretty flexible, position-less you might call it. ... He'll be in the A gap, the B gap, the C gap, the D gap, off the edge."

John going to bring that positionless shit to football like was all the rave in basketball. I started wanting to strangle people when they would say that.

I’m gonna just say it …, McDonald is my favorite player in this draft. Now I’m not saying he is the best player in the draft, I’m just saying I love his game. He reminds me of Casey Hampton. Go get him Spy.

I've seen Dexter Lawrence and Casey Hampton so far. Throw in a little Haloti Ngata and I'm in.

I actually don't care that much. Our pass rush and secondary is abysmal though.

If McDonald is indeed his guy, then he meeds to move up a few notches and grab him.

JDR tore it down. Gruden blew is up.

Nah, all those players were still there when Gruden brought his wrecking ball. JDR is just a dumbass who couldn't maintain his success, but he didn't run off Mack, Coop, and all those draft picks.

The ‘14 players plus Cooper, sure. But Red/JDR drafted little behind them. Red’s next good 1st round pick, Miller, was with Gruden.

Like most well run franchises the Rams have set themselves up for the future. They have a couple of years to develop Simpson. Will it work out? Don’t know but clearly the right thing to do for them.

Yeah, he'll get over it once he works with him. I know one thing, if Stafford gets hurt, it'll be better working with him than Bennett or bringing back broke down Jimmy. Sometimes, these coaches don't know what's best for them either. It's not like a Caleb Downs was still on the board. Draft was so shallow, multiple LBs and and Rb were top ten players in this draft.

Yes, weakness at premium positions, coupled with lack of depth at OT, RB and QB, pulled up 7 OT, 2 RB and Simpson. Thing is, unlike the OT, the ND RB grade out where they were picked. RB are just not valued like evaluators view them.

It also might be an act. Think about it. What good does it do for him to be gushing about that pick with how finicky QBs are? Stafford doesn't catch flack for it, but he very much has been operating like Favre at the end the last few years. People don't give him shit for it because he seems to be a chill guy. I don't think not meeting him in a private workout is a big deal when he's a coach's kid, and he played under Saban for three years. McVay could get all the info he needed on him from talking to him and his limited cutups. He's going to need a lot of work anyway, so it's irrelevant aside from seeing the skill set, which imo fits everything they want to do. You don't want to piss off Kelly to start running her mouth on her podcast five people listen to.

Can’t trust these new f’ing Lams. Preferred it when the Lams were incompetent.

Coaches need to win now in the NFL. All that talent on the board and McVay thinking playoffs and improving the roster.
The Simpson pick did nothing for McVay.

Yup, they're a SB contender. Windows aren't open for long in the NFL. And Ty Simpson isn't a 'must have' type of prospect IMO. I'd be pissed if I were McVay/Stafford... I'd want talent that would help me now.

Questionable approach to the draft. But, Snead's bonafides are established. Maybe he'll be proven right.

The two shortest-armed defensive linemen in recorded draft history ever taken in the first-round were both taken by Jason Licht:

Calijah Kancey (30 5/8")
Rueben Bain Jr. (30 7/8")
