2026 Free Agency

Too bad he's a dickhead. The price and the fit for us was decent. Possibly duplicative with the theoretical Jack Bech though I guess.

Ian Rapoport
@RapSheet
Sources: The #Chargers have agreed to terms with former #Browns TE David Njoku, giving him a 1-year deal worth up to $8M.

Adam Schefter
@AdamSchefter
Jaguars signed veteran RB Ameer Abdullah.

Jordan Schultz
@Schultz_Report
Free agent WR Bryce Ford-Wheaton, who spent the last three years with the #Giants, was recently cleared from his torn Achilles and is expected to begin working out for teams soon, per sources.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Ford-Wheaton was valued for his special teams ability as an elite gunner, while also making developmental progress as a receiver.

You have to be a terrible receiver to catch zero passes in 4 years. Even Jack Bech thinks this guy fuckin blows.

Elite gunner, though. How many tackles?

Raiders signed former Fish NT B. Jones, a ‘20 UDFA, replacing B. Martin. In ‘24, it looked like Jones finally figured out how to play NT in the NFL, with 14 starts, 460 snaps, 2.0% SIS, 7 AV. But he regressed last year after an injury-shortened season with only 8 starts and 232 snaps (-0.4% SIS; 3 AV; 47.0 PFF). Rob at least now has a NT with 37 career starts on the roster.

A couple thousand snaps at NT it looks like in his career.

Worth a flier in May!

Rob Leonard was his DL coach in ‘20 and Mia’s LB coach in ‘21 when Jones was on Mia’s practice squad. While not a high bar, it nonetheless is a real bar for our two rookies and Tasi to clear, if capable.

Yeah - posted about it in the depth chart thread but we have 4 real NT bodies and then guys like pegues and butler who could fill in as needed when we go smaller/pass rush oriented out of base.

I expect it'll end up 1-2 53 man guys and 1-2 on the ps.

I’m rooting for Tasi!

DT is a position that Raiders may be tinkering with before and even during the season. Butler is older and wasn't that great last year. Everyone else is young: Laulu, Pegues, Smith, Cleveland. Even Booker is only 26. We all wanted McDonald but Spy went secondary and this position still needs help. I think they brought this new guy in for some more veteran help in case these young guys don't progress. It will surprising if this position is not addressed with draft capital next year.

Easily a positional target for waiver wire claims before W1. Also expect a WR waiver wire claim.
