Valdez-Scantling made a pro career doing one thing well, going deep. And his 4–year college stats at NC State and South Florida (lesser competition than Oregon and Tenn) were not great either: Thornton (1426 yards, 10 TD); Valdez-Scantling (1842 yards, 12 TD). Can we give Thornton 1 offseason on a competent team before we write him off? Everyone’s favorite FA WR came from Weber State and his 4-year college stats weren’t great (1628 yards, 15 TDs).

Thornton was drafted as a project with some impressive measurables. I'm not going to lose sleep over whether he amounts to anything or not, but all the rookies from last season get a mulligan from me until I see what they do under KK.

Thornton was the guy they tried to pump up and he couldn’t meet the task though. Hopefully he shows more but that wasn’t promising.
 
Well everyone’s favorite WR in the 4th was Jalen Royals he went 2 catches for 4 yards with the Chiefs.

I played in one charity scramble where you could buy feet of string to move your putt closer to the hole lol.

Coulda used that one in a few club championships.

He’s an odd fit for what I believe KK likes in his receivers. Who knows though, the kid could make some improvements in the offseason.

We are definitely not in a great position when it comes to WR. I don’t see much reason for optimism with this group. I also don’t see a great target in the draft this year either.

:wtf1: Not sure if I agree. I think this is a pretty deep wr class. Maybe not a consensus #1 stud but some really good day 2 and day 3 guys.

We say that every single year. We can just go back to any draft year over the past 5-6 years and everyone is claiming it’s a pretty deep class. Beyond round 2 it takes a bit of luck and right fit for it to work out. I think I fall in love with a few random late day 2 or early round 3 WR’s every year and very rarely do I ever hear from them again in the league.

Part of the reason I don’t sweat missing on Thornton. It’s hard to hit on mid round WR’s may as well go for it with big and fast if you’re gonna swing.

I think you can land a decent wr in the mid rounds, maybe mores than some other positions.

Nacua- 5th round.
Aman Ra- 4th round
Nico Collins- 3rd round

Jacobi Meyers was an UDFA.

I dont think anyone sweats missing on Thornton. We miss on a couple of those almost every year. Its a day 3 shotgun blast.

Its just that we can say he fuckin sucks and probably doesnt have the goods.

He aint Nico Collins lmfao.

Can is pretty optimistic.. I can hit lottery this evening but the likelihood is pretty fucking low. Doesn’t mean you don’t swing for em it’s just a bit of luck to see it happen. It’s not an every year thing where you get a stud in the 3rd 4th round as WR. Even getting a solid #2 is not easy.
