It kind of looks like Dante should have ducked.
Slide right at the defender's feet and this is the target you give him.

Sleet should represent Stephens on this one.

The outrage is more from how he pranced around and celebrated.

He's down and the dude hit his head (as seen in the picture above)

Thats why he was ejected and flagged, no?

Did he get a penalty for celebrating too? I didnt see that.

Looks like Oregon rallied around their backup and got the W anyways.

I am not saying it wasn't a penalty. It was.

The anger is rightly coming from his post-hit behavior. He wasn't contrite but dancing around and laughing.

Yeah I didnt watch any of the dancing BS. That just makes a moron who just cost his team look even dumber. Like a guy we would sell as a "tone setter" a few years back. One of my favorite eras of retard Raider fandom lmfao.

Its like 100 posts too many for a play lol. Dude got ejected and penalized for the play. His team lost. Looks like it cost them dearly. Moore TBD for Oregon though.

Moore was pretty late sliding, not sure that defender could have stopped if he wanted to.

He got ejected like he should have by the rules of the game. USC celebrating the hit knowing he was fucked up is a bit over the top. Fuck then for that BS

Personally I don’t think there should have been a flag at all in this situation. (I don’t like that rule) You can’t slide at the last second with a defender already in motion to tackle. I don’t know what in the Neo Matrix type move the defender was supposed to make in less than a half second to avoid the head hit. If Moore had slid 3 yards earlier and the hit still happened then absolutely flags should have flown.

I just can’t stand all the BS late hits, Roughing the passer, hands to the head, targeting BS. In a lot of these situations it’s just too bang bang to avoid without being Neo. Others are very obviously avoidable and absolutely should be punished. This particular case just so happens to be one I feel a late slide caused the hit less than the defender tried to hit his head.

You ever see someone get hit in the head with a shoulder or helmet and not get flagged for targeting lately? It was absolutely the right call per the rules.

If Carson Beck or Darian Mensah took that hit @alteredst8 would have had a 19 page video dissertation on the downfall of football and the destruction of the game.

The horses you got money on is always a factor.

Yep definitely not arguing the call at all because that is the rule.

I just don’t like the way you can last minute slide and expect the defender to not hit the player. The has to be something that punishes the QB for putting himself in harms way like that. Other than getting his lights knocked out.

Not sure about 19 pages that is reserved for @Sleet and rest days.

Of course I would be defending my horse in the race. I also have a pretty long track record of saying how I hate late slides, sideline hits, and similar plays. I’m quite consistent with my take on those plays.
I don’t like how one guy can put himself in harms way and the defender is supposed to avoid the collision at the last moment. I’ve been assured here on Br.Net on many occasions that defenders are in fact Mr.-Fantastic and can stretch and bend any number of ways to avoid those plays at the last second.

It was about the blow to the head. They've called that targeting and an ejection forever. That's not really anything to debate. It just was disgusting that he celebrated after knocking him out. Something is wrong with him to know that outcome and celebrate it. Is he going to say he didn't see Moore turtle up or the ambulance come to put him on the stretcher?

In college, it doesn't matter. If you hit another player in the head, they call it targeting, and you're out for that half and the first half of the next game if it happened in the second half. These have been the rules forever and a day. It wasn't about the late hit. It's that he pretty clearly intentionally went for his head.
