2025 MLB Thread

Ended up buying the A's season package on the MLB network. Toyed around with the idea of finding another team but I guess I'll give it another year or so. They have a good young lineup that's actually locked up for the next several years at least.

The West Sacramento Athletics!

The Vegas park is coming quick. Right on the strip and looks cool.

NEW: It's now more lucrative to have a losing sports team than a championship team.

We examined the Boston Red Sox to see how private equity and cost cutting invaded sports.

In this era, teams want to sell good players for profit more than they want to have a good season.

Connie Mack smiles.

“It is more profitable for me to have a team that is in contention for most of the season, but finishes about fourth,” Mack once explained. “A team like that will draw well enough during the first part of the season to show a profit for the year and you don’t have to give the players raises when they don’t win.”

These people need to be led to the guillotines.

Update. MLB network package sucks and so do the A's. YouTube TV has a "sports" package now for $62 mo. that ends up being cheaper than what I was paying for various other apps for sports anyway. Well, maybe not cheaper but close enough that the quality upgrade is worth it. MLB and NFL apps both suck.

Baseball is pretty much unwatchable anymore.

I like it because I usually don't watch TV attentively anymore and baseball makes good background noise. I still miss the old days of throwing at hitters and base stealing and all that though.

What's going on with your Giants @Crossbones

I start watching more games and they get run by the Clippers Mets.
