A’s sent me emails about who they drafted but I’m kinda out on baseball right now. Seems like some decent picks though. Of course, they probably won’t be able to sign them lol.

The 2024 MLB Draft is here. Day 1 included the first 74 selections, covering Rounds 1 and 2, Competitive Balance Rounds A and B, two Prospect Promotion Incentive picks, plus two compensation picks. The Guardians got things going with the No. 1 overall pick.

I gave up on baseball for awhile, but with the new rules with the pitch clock I fell back in love with the game.....

All star game 2morrow...Not much else happening....I'll be watching....

Baseball? Well I was thinking back to my youth in San Francisco and realized i had the fortune to see so many of the greatest players in MLB history. Saw these all in person in no particular order:

Rickey Henderson is my favorite player all time. I miss the era of the stolen base.

I'd add Eckersley to the list... maybe Catfish.
 
I’d also that that little pip squeak Maury Wills.

Not many appreciate the pitch clock.

It was definitely a problem that needed to be addressed. I'm not sure the current pitch clock is the perfect solution, but it's better than watching the Manny Machados and Nomad Garciaparras of the hitting world take 45 seconds between each pitch to adjust their hitting gloves, their elbow gear, their foot/shin guard, and their helmet. And then watching the Jon Lesters and and Jonathan Papelbons of the pitching world stare in for a solid 3 minutes before even getting set.

The pace of the game was brutal for the 10-15 years prior to the pitch clock.

I''m with ya brother.....Now if they do something about a hard cap and no work around. Time to stop buying championships and start earning them.

There are some players that are just born natural who would have flourished in any baseball era. Williams and Tony G were just natural born hitters.

They need a floor more than a cap so dickheads like the owners of the As, Pirates, Marlins, and Rays actually spend money. The WS winners are Top 10 or so in spending, but it's not like they're blowing everyone away. The Mets suck, the Dodgers choke, the Yankees have been all over the place. Everyone else is pretty much in a normal range these days.
