2025 College Football Thread

That and wrestling. A minute is a fucking eternity doing that shit.
Boxing is boring compared to wrestling. That shit ain’t no joke. Thought I was going to join the wrestling team when I was a kid and a few weeks of getting tossed by a 5’4” 150 kid I was done. My 5’9” 150 pound body at the time wasn’t cut out for that shit. This is coming from a kid that used to do triathlons on the regular.

Both gnarly. I wrestled for three years. We used to do a drill with three wrestlers and you rotate every minute, so you are two minutes on and one minute off. Brutal.

Worst match I ever had went into triple OT for Regionals as a junior. He got an escape at the last second and went to State. I couldn't fucking move for a while after all that. Every ounce of energy was spent. Both of us needed a bit of help off the mat since legs went to rubber.

Got senioritis and couldn't wrestle my senior year. Coach was pissed, since he felt that I could have taken state that year. I dominated in almost every match the year before, minus the regional.

I wasn’t dedicated enough to it to be that good. I really wanted to play football and basketball but I was a late bloomer and was too small. Wrestled 114.

Wrestled 119/121 my first year on varsity. Two years later, I wrestled 148/155. Skinny MF’er. lol.

Couldn't wrestle or play football in my freshman year due to breaking a vertebrae during track & field in 8th grade when I missed the mat in the high jump. I think I was 102 Sophmore, 115 Junior and was working in 135? in my Senior year before getting bounced for grades.

Wrestling was the only sport my high school was good at, we sent 4-5 wrestlers to state every year. All them dudes wrestled year round. I never made varsity but won the city league JV.

Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby, who is under NCAA investigation for making bets via a gambling app, has retained the noted lawyer Jeffrey Kessler to try to regain his college eligibility, sources tell me and @PeteThamel.

If Sorsby and Kessler are unsuccessful in finding a path to eligibility, declaring for the NFL’s supplemental draft then would become an option. Sorsby would have until June 30 to declare for the supplemental draft.

Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby’s camp is essentially doing this, I’m told, to accelerate the process. They want to see if the NCAA will negotiate a settlement on a suspension. If not, Sorsby will likely go into the supplemental draft.

Supplemental draft is usually in early July.

Probably a very early supp draft pick.

Like the one you see every decade or so.

Really? I think he would’ve went in the Cole Payton range if he came out this year. Probably a 5th-7th round supp pick if it happens IMO.

He was getting first round buzz if he came out this year.

I think he would have went above Simpson if he came out did the Senior Bowl etc and coaches dove into his game. Size, arm, mobility. Lots of starts. (Not 10 or whatever)

Probably a 2nd or 3rd round supp pick if it happens. Maybe a QB needy team with extra picks takes a swing. Or this stuff hurts him bad who knows.

He had some early season 1st round pub but I thought it really cooled down after having some stinkers throughout the year. He has the physical talent but don’t recall him being projected higher than the 3rd by the later part of the year. If teams were telling him he’d go top 15, like Simpson, and he decided to go back to college then he’s a fucking dumbass.

Yeah could be.

I think if the side stuff comes out clean someone will spend a decent comp pick on him. There was really only one QB above him in this class maybe two.

Biggest thing about boxing is you have to learn to breathe while punching. People hold their breath while punching and that's how they get tired out right away.
When I was a junior in HS, I was a pretty good wrestler, competing at 137 lbs. A freshman “golden glove” youth boxer joined the team, cocky little sucker at 98 lbs. I was dumb enough to put on gloves and go 3 rounds using the matt as the ring. Fucker danced around and lit me up good for two rounds. He got a little cocky in the 3rd round and stood in front of me and we went toe-to-toe and I caught him and knocked him down in no small part b/c of my 40 lb advantage. Needless to say, I was in great shape and still was spent.

Have to really pace yourself too. 3 minutes is an eternity even when just hitting mitts. It's the best and most complete workout I have ever done. I have the utmost respect for anyone who fights professionally.
