2024 Offseason Roster

I am basically assuming both post June 1st and between them it would leave enough to sign higher end rooks that don’t just kick the can on vet minimum
Renfrow wouldn't make much sense as a June 1st. You generally use those for guys who won't save you anything in March. Carroppolo should be more than enough on his own as a PJ1.

We can attack this offseason a multitude of ways. If we are making a run (starting with hiring ap/keeping pg) - then we need to find the guy to lead us at qb and patch FA holes and will need that cap space. If we are targeting a year 2+ for our new staff then we eat it and find younger less expensive options.

If its me - hire AP. Trade the house for Caleb and target next year with some playoff hopes for this. Caleb would give us a rookie contract window but would eat draft capital. So we manage year 1 and then spend next year. Find some young guards and some "epps/spillane" options along dt, cb.

Adam Butler is a NFL rotation worthy DT. No reason not to bring him back. He wont cost too much. Hooper is worth a roster spot too. Couple other FA's worth talking to but Butler seems to have done all that was asked and is young enough to stay. DT is a major weakness. No reason to let anyone solid walk.
Wait a minute … fuck Michigan. :p

Caleb kinda scares the shit out of me. Parents want a piece of ownership, kid is living in a penthouse, would rather just stay in college and take NIL money than play for a team he doesn’t want to. It all sounds like trouble to me. I am not saying don’t do it, just that it has that “feel” to it. This would definitely be the kid that try’s to hold out on his 4th year looking to get paid if he even remotely looks like a franchise guy.

I think if we move up and we keep AP it would be for Daniels..

Unpopular take: I’d like to offer Jacobs about $15M over 3 years with incentives to get up to this year’s salary . Some of you think RBs are a dime a dozen but would be nice to have 2 especially since we’re getting a young QB next year. The Andre James thing is also a question. I expect when he plays Chris Jones, he’s NFL level…I know Dylan seems to be the plan there but Josh is gone. For an 8-9 year, I’m optimistic.
Jacobs on contract year was fantastic. Dude came in out of shape when he was offered a great contract and then tagged with a big money tag and sucked. I'm not paying him shit and definitely not a 3 year contract. White outplayed the shit out of him when he got his shot. Jacobs probably thinks he's worth way more than that anyway and some team might be dumb enough to pay him, I hope they do and it nets us a comp.

I do not think we have the ammo to move up to #1 anyway. There will be teams with much higher #1 picks in front of us to trade. Daniels is a possibility I think.

Getting our guy (Daniels) isn’t going to be easy or cheap.

We’ll see if the Raiders are really serious about finally fixing this QB room for the long haul.

I was listening to a podcast with Mel Kiper and he floated the possibility that with the off season workouts, Daniels might leap-frog Williams to become QB1. And go first overall.

Wrong thead

We can say “get it done” I just don’t think we are going to be able to get it done like that. It would cost 3 1st 3 2nd’s and someone like Adams or Miller.. maybe even both. Could even require Maxx. It really depends on how the Bears handle their pick. Losing to Packers did us no favors. I was hopeful Fields would go out and ball out.. instead his o-line folded like a deck of cards around him.

Patriots and Redskins are not dropping back… They have nothing at the position where we could offer enough value to make it happen unless one of them get a wild hair up their ass and think Russell or Cousins will put them over the top for a playoff run… and ya.. that ain’t it

So I see your Monday isn't going well. Thanks for brightening up mine! :(

QB - AO'C showed some progress but showed limits esp when it comes to mobility in the pocket and taking sacks instead of checkdowns/throw aways. Long term backup. Need to find his successor. JimmyG and Hoyer are "on the roster" but shouldn't be expected to be part of the conversation

RB - White is the top guy with only depth guys behind him. Will need to grab some insurance and a 3rd down guy. Abdullah and/or Jacobs could be back in the right situation - but could see wholesale change based on our OC as well

FB - noone on the roster - may not have one next year

TE - Mayer takes over the top spot - and we lose a lot of depth. Will need some new bodies here as I don't expect Hooper/Horsted back.

WR - Adams/Meyer/Tucker return barring trades - solid top 3. The accountant is still on the roster but making far too much for what he's produced - expected to be released. Could look for a new option at PR/KR but Carter did enough to return if we return staff.

OL - Kolton returns, Munford may take over at RT. James likely gets voided and if so we move Parham to C. Need some new Gs and depth all around. Should be a priority position in FA/draft depending on staff.

DTs - lots going out - only young guys coming back - and they haven't looked ready for prime time. Could see premium picks/FA dollars here. Could see an entire new rotation here. A. Butler is the only name I could see retained.

DEs - Wilson and Koonce improved as season went on. Robinson is an OK 4th option. Maxx is our stud and back. Could look at a different 4th option but this is a solid group.

LBs - Spillane and Deablo are back and look good as starter. Masterson is a solid backup. Burney didn't get enough playing time to know what we have. It's not a stellar group and if we change DCs it could get changed wholesale. But it's a good enough group and not overly expensive

S - Similar to LB, we have starters returning and they are good enough/not great. New regime could make changes. But it's not a huge need group

CB - Hobbs and Jones come back and look good. Hall should be back as an RFA. We could use a good #1 CB either via draft/trade/FA. But I could see Amik back as well in a "dont fix what isnt broken" move.

Agreed, although I think some of it just a cocky kid with helicopter parents. Due diligence is needed though for sure.

Contractually, I would just assume any negotiation is going to be contentious at this point.

I think both these make the jump next year. Not sure if Wilson will ever be elite, but he should be able to contribute and show way more than he did first half of the year.
If he is a solid starter for the the Raiders for the next 7-9 years I would call that a win based on the last 20 plus 1st round picks…
Such a shit show for us in the 1st round over the years. Fuck it trade all our picks
