2024 Mock Draft thread...

Noticing a trend...

Matt Miller of ESPN:

QB. J.J. McCarthy – Pick No. 13 – Las Vegas Raiders

"The Raiders have a new general manager in Tom Telesco and must make finding a long-term quarterback the priority of the 2024 offseason (free agent signing Jimmy Garoppolohas not worked out).

McCarthy, who started two years at Michigan, just turned 21 and has the requisite tools to be that player. He’s mobile and tough as nails, and scouts praise his arm strength and ability to make difficult throws in big situations. He has thrown only 44 touchdown passes in college to nine interceptions and compared to the other top quarterbacks in this class, he’s by far the least-experienced thrower. But his potential and ceiling have him worthy of a top-15 selection."

No way we could realistically consider drafting a guy like JJ who an entire staff in our own division knows his strengths and weaknesses. He would be exposed very quickly by Minter and Harbaugh IMO. Could he develop into something over the years that they are not familiar with? Sure they could, but it certainly would be a rough row to hoe every time we play them for the first few years.

Meh. It’s two games a season. If he’s otherwise worth the pick I’m not letting that stop me. Scouting is so good these days that they’d be familiar with him quickly anyway.

9) Las Vegas Raiders (From CHI): Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU

Trade: Raiders receive the No. 9 pick; Bears receive picks 13 and 73, plus a 2025 second-rounder

The next stunning move in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft involves an Arizona State reunion between the Heisman Trophy winner and Antonio Pierce.

The two were in Tempe together before Jayden Daniels transferred to Baton Rouge. Daniels even attended a Raiders home game late in 2023 and interacted with “A.P.” — further showing their respect to this day.

While Aidan O’Connell presented some solid moments at QB, many believe he’s more suited as a No. 2. Daniels’ name can additionally galvanize this fan base plus form a wicked tandem with Pro Bowl wideout Davante Adams.
