(Actually, he is soft of is. The FCS Playoffs are already that weekend!)

Army-Navy switched to its own weekend after the traditional rivalry and conference championship games overwhelmed it. Once, the two programs fell from powerhouse status, that move was the only way to preserve good ratings. If the programs stayed elite, it would never have needed its own weekend.

A spot on rivalry week means competition with Michigan-Ohio State and Alabama-Auburn and a loss of 8+ million watching but I can't see how it continues in the current setup as a non-conference game played after the AAC conference championship - a game in which Army and Navy could meet.

I have seen some ridiculous suggestions. Like having the NFL give up Thanksgiving afternoon or night for Army-Navy. Americans love patriotism until it interferes with watching good football.
