Its never too early. I figured I would start a thread we can discuss any college players who might look good in Silver and Black next year.


Glenn Dorsey and Early Doucet
Tonight LSU's first game in on national TV. Since i wont be able to view the last Raider pre-season game bc of my east coast status ill be watching. I am keeping a close eye on the guy who I would want more than anyone next year... Glenn Dorsey. This guy is a dominating quick 300+ pound DT who is going to be a top talent in next years draft. He would be the PERFECT guy to replace Sapp (when he is done). I dont think we will have a top 5 pick next year but sometimes players can slide when QB's and skill position guys wow everyone. I also am going to watch JR's old target Early Doucet. I would like to see both of theses guys suit up for us next season. LSU is filled with good players so it will be interesting to check out some good prospects.
 
Glenn Dorsey is a monster. He was doubled all night basically and still was making plays. He is a surefire top 5 pick. He didnt get pushed back 1 time that i saw even when doubled. I really hope we find a way to land this guy. Kirk Morrison would be unstoppable behind him and Sands with Sapp coming off the bench!

Early Doucet is also a baller. He seems to do everything pretty well. He runs good route's, nice hands, good size/speed. He looks like a 1st rounder.
 
James Hardy is a 6-7 listed (which means probably 6-6) WR from Indiana of all places, listed by Street and Smith's as the fastest WR in the Big 10. If this guys has hands and any insticts at all he could be a freakin' monster, and playing at Indiana he has flown under the radar a great deal.

Interesting. Anytime your big and fast thats a good start.
 
Two guys I've got my draft eye on:


Red Bryant: He's a freakin Aggie, but I love his attitude and the way he stacks the run...

Jonathan Stewart: I'm hoping Mike Bush is the Mike Bush we saw pre-injury, but if he's not I think Stewart is an excellent fit for what we do... I fully expect him to right up there with McFadden and Slayton before the year is out...
 
Mike Hart just saved Michigan's season. Seems like a nice fit for this scheme.
 
I may have spoke too soon. Still, Hart is pretty good.
 
Hart is a beast. Michigan just broke my heart and destroyed a whole season before it got started. I need some Raiders wins this season i cant take this shit anymore.

Kudos to APP ST. WTF was Michigan doing. They were asleep out there. 2 blocked FG's in the 4th!
 
Steve Slaton is alos a home run threat. I would love to pair him up with M.Bush next season. He is a Tiki barber clone.

Dorsey sounds good to me already.

Rice had an awesome game the other night. Wouldn't break my heart if we selected him.

Haha. It gives you more shit to talk about when football season is over. Im gonna try to formulate my opinion by watching players in person as much as possible. So I can completly obsess over the draft when going thru Raider withdrawl in the offseason.


I want to add Dorsey, McFadden or J.Long!
 
I'm trying to figure out who the hell we'll draft in the third round. :shakehead:
 
Brian Leonard does look like a solid player. Had we drafted him, my guess is that Justin Fargas would've been sent packing.

Speaking of Fargas, anyone surpised that he made the cut?
 
I was watching the Auburn game and Quintin Groves looks amazing. Im not sure how his game would translate but he was causing terror as a pass rusher! Honeslty as far as Quintin moses goeses, in the age of combine freaks i was my edge rusher to be faster. Thats just me.
 
I'm not sure what to make the WR class this year. There's a lot of guys who are small but fast (Doucet, Jackson, Manningham) and then a group of guys who are big and not-so-fast (Sweed, Bowman, Urrutia). There doesn't seem to be a "do it all" type of WR this year. Which makes me think it might be wise to go OT with Long, Baker, or any of the talented juniors that may come out.




Oh, and speaking of the LSU defensive line. Yes, Dorsey's most definitely a stud and worthy of a top-10 pick. But keep your eye on DE Tyson Jackson. He stands to benefit from a lot of one-on-one matchups due to Dorsey getting doubled. With the struggles Va Tech had on the offensive line vs. ECU last week it's conceivable that Jackson has a good/great game. He's probably going to end up a mid-1st rounder. He's the definition of a base DE.
 
Dorsey is definitely my #1 guy at this point. Groves looks like a winner as well, but getting a stud DT whose motor isn't in question ain't easy. If he's there, we have to take him.

I'm normally a proponent of taking OLs in Rd1, but if we're staying with this scheme (which is anything but a certainty considering what we've done the last few years), I don't think we need to go that route.

DT, DE, OLB, and WR seem like the most likely targets at this point. "This point" being 7 1/2 months from the draft, but...ya know.
 
McFadden would be the type of player you couldnt pass up if we had a shot at him. McFadden and JaMarcus would be a fantastic start to building a championship offense.

I think Brian Brohm is going to be a lock at #1 next season to the FALCONS! Petrino will be licking is chops at the thought of Vick being gone and being re-united with Brohm.
