who do you really want in the 1st...

Cooper is special. And Crabtree is an excellent possession guy. Nice 1-2 punch. Could we use more depth at the position? Sure. Especially if Holmes takes off. But it comes down to priority. I think we have other needs we should address before depth at the WR spot. Like safety. Wood retired and I think we waived Nate Allen. Seriously I think we're down to Asante and Mays!
We resigned Allen, will sign a FA S (hopefully Weddle) and I'm guessing use a Day 2 pick on a safety. Day 1, I want BPA and would not pass on a WR b/c of needs elsewhere.

was it you who labeled Crabtree a #2b WR?... I would agree.

Look, he's a good possession receiver... he's also had one blown achilles and has averaged a whopping 10 yards per reception over the last couplea seasons.

if he goes down, I guess we're starting Roberts.. who wasn't even drafted... then God knows who else...

WR is a need.... for an offense with a young QB on the rise.

I hear ya, and he's good but WR really isn't a big priority right now. Seems like more of a luxury pick to take a 4th WR with our first pick. Coop, Crabs, & Roberts are fine. We need serious help in our secondary.

Roberts is fine if you need a juggler for your kid's birthday party. Beyond that, he's a depth guy with upside. He's not a 3 yet.

A big, young, relatively fast #1b with a different skill set than Cooper, Crabby and Seth would be a huge addition for Carr.

if he has the skill set of catching footballs and scoring TD's he can come as he likes..

We're lacking a deep threat, either a big guy who's good at jump-balls, or a straight-up speedster.

Wasn't Desean Jackson supposed to sign here? Oh wait...

So Ragland is under-sized and slow? why is he rated so high?

By no means undersized, but suspect in coverage. And, yeah. Bama.

Old school LB. Less and less a good fit as the league evolves.

Is Treadwell really far and away the best WR in the draft? Has Doctson caught up to or surpassed Laquan as the premier WR?

The argument is usually Treadwell vs Coleman.

I like both, but both have warts. Treadwell isn't going to run past many people, and Coleman drops more passes than you'd expect of "the best WR in the class."

My two favorite guys have both seen their stock soar as the offseason has progressed, but I wouldn't expect either to leap Treadwell on draft day unless he bombs at his pro day. If he runs close to a 4.7 (not implausible), he's gonna drop.

True, Seth needs to get in front of the jugs machine but for an undrafted kid outta nowhere, I think he had a hell of a rookie campaign.

But...you guys are making good points. I'm warming up to the Doctson idea!

I know you hate the drops, but you gotta admit Coleman is tasty...

Oh, yeah. Even with Baylor WRs batting .000 in the NFL, he's a headturner. I jumped on his wagon during the season, honestly. But, as they say, "upon further review..."

Would he make for a freaky tandem with Cooper? Absolutely.

But, after a couple months of saying "Yeah, Cooper will drop a few passes, but so did Tim Brown. He turned out okay.", only to watch him lead the league with 18 drops, I just cannot bring myself to stump for someone who "drops a few passes, but..."

I just can't do it.

Cooper gets a pass there because he's good-to-great in every other meaningful category, including having the NFL style route tree down before being drafted.

Coleman is, to put it mildly, a work in progress in that regard.

Give me Sterling Shepard at 44 over Coleman at 14 and I never look back.

Red is very unlikely to draft a WR at #14. If not Elliott, it will likely be a OL or DL. He wants to continue to build the trenches.

Yea, Red would never draft a CB in the top 15 . . . err, wait.

I can't argue against it. I just hope it's not one of those Bama fatties.

Agreed. Hard to know if the Bama players are talented or just a product of the system (or as Saban loves to say "the process")

I feel the same way about Houston CB's...

@007 is right. The regimes that coached up Routt and Hayden weren't there when Jackson was.

Different coaches means different coaching.

Different coaches means different standards while recruiting; a different type of athlete/person being recruited.

Something about Nick Saban's program fucks players up. That, or he does a masterful job of making lesser talent look NFL caliber. Either way, I don't trust 'em.

I know diddly shit about the current Houston coach, so I figure the appropriate default position is to assume they're like any other low-end D1 program and avoid bias in either direction.

"Don't scout the helmet", or however the expression goes.
