Even if you're right, we need fresh blood in this RB core. All this talk about drafting for the future and we haven't done a whole lot to prepare for Tay-Tay leaving after next season.
This is week 7 last year AKA October 2015 (recent) What do YOUR eyes tell you here? I see a short yardage BEAST for 2016. I dont care what the media sees.
We drafted a good 3rd down back? That is help for our pro-bowl RB? Murray did average 4.0 ypc in his FIRST season as a full time RB. Is there no chance he improves in year two as a starter? Year two w Musgrave? Year two with this huge OL?
I will say it. Murray is not as bad as you dudes make him out to be. Can he be upgraded? Hell yes. He should share the workload. Is he terrible? Fuck no! Could he get better with this OL in year 2… absolutely.
Besides, all the talent at RB is in next years draft. NEXT YEARS DRAFT. Zeke was the only stud in this draft. We missed out on Martin/L.Miller. We will get one next year when Murrays contract is up. When the draft is loaded & there are more options in FA. Or Murray will seize the job and kill all his haters! Maybe Washington is a great #2 this year? Our RB postion will be fine with one more veteran add (Marshawn, A.Foster, R.Bush etc)

Tron is engaging Full Blown Dumbass Mode this morning.
Fits the O like a glove.....and he appears to have been the guy all along.I think Washington will be just fine. Kind of reminds me of a poor mans LTomlinson. He's got some wiggle and some legit speed. Really liking this pick
Even if, for the sake of argument, Murray is decent next year, it's a good bet that Reggie lets him walk for the same reasons McGloin will be out the door. The flip side to not investing high picks on RB's is throwing numbers at the position.
Murray was decent last year dude. 4.0 and pro-bowl visit is considered "decent" in the NFL.
The issue was that we overworked Murray. He looked tired and beat up at times last season. He is also miscast in the passing game. Murray is a split the carries starting RB in the NFL. Not a workhorse and not a pass catcher. He killed us in that Bears game, I'm guessing that where all this hate for him comes from.
I expect the young RB to play better in Musgrave's system in year two. Its also his 2nd year as as full time RB in the NFL. Im sure he learned some lessons last season! The coaching staff probably also now understand how to use him to his ability AKA take him out of the passing game all together. Take him out of short yardage situations etc. I blame the coaching staff for playing him there, not Murray. He was a raw 6th round pick thrust into being a full time starter behind a shit run blocking OL. Lets not kid ourselves, what were we expecting?
Murray & _____ should split carries.
Olawale = short yardage
Washington / Reece = passing game / 3rd down.
We need to add another RB who can take some carries. It could be Washigngton, but that is asking a lot from a rookie at 5-8.
This is why we need a vet like Lynch, Foster or someone else half cooked. We dont need a stud RB badly, we need a stop gap until the next offseason. Then we will know exactly what we have in Murray and Washington and can proceed. If we wanna add a game breaker like Zeke, we may have a shot. I did not think we had a chance to do that this year. Zeke was the only stud RB. Miller & Martin didnt sign here, sounds like Reggie attempted to sign Martin. So what else could he have done.
TLDR: Murray/_____ + Washington = good enough for next season (Reece/Olawale are more RB than FB anyway)
And he is going to leave a SB favorite to come to a team with crappy run-blocking that hasn't made the playoff in like 12 yearsDude just turned 30 last week. And didnt play much last year. He is Re-ju-vena-ted, he was once juvenated, now he's rejuvenated. Dude is off doing charity work in Africa or some shit, getting his spirit right for another season of Beastn. He's not done, thats group think. Only done as a full-time guy. View attachment 3429

If he still wants to play... it'll be in Oakland.
I honestly hope you're joking
Cook is a much better QB than any RB we could bring in now. Probably even in the 4th. QB is a more critical position than RB, especially if you think you have a solid run blocking OL.This really isn't a "Murray sucks" point I'm making. That said, I brought his lack of toughness up in preseason last year.
My point is that I expect we let him walk next season rather than pay him an increased wage. That's the way it works with RB's these days and exactly why the Connor Cook pick is getting so much love from some - preparing for an inevitable future.
It's the UDFA thread and I'm wondering why so little focus has been put on a position of need.
