TV Discussion

Great yet frustratingly short episode. And Lady Loki is hawt.

Sylvie has won me over bringing all this profanity to a Disney tv show. She's salty as hell and I'm digging it.

That and just being a sexy accent having general bad ass. Seems like she’s actually a mashup of two different characters in the comics. Sylvie/Enchantress and Lady Loki. At any rate she’s sexy as hell and the chemistry between her and Hiddleston is perfect. I see they’ve casted an actress for “young Sylvie” so I assume some backstory is coming.

The Bo Jackson style run up the wall move while fighting the TVA guys put a pretty big smile on my face. So did Loki's "Another!" glass shattering Thor 1 callback.

If Sylvie is to be believed, and the TVA are all variants...who has the mind control power, or talent for brainwashing, to pull that off? Is that a canonical Kang ability?

I say "if" because, well, she is a Loki. Mischievous scamps, one and all.

Which leads one to wonder if there are any other Lokis working for the TVA, and why they've killed (or claimed to have killed) so many Loki variants.

Is there something specific about Loki variants that automatically puts them on the kill list rather than being a potential "employee"? Hiddleston (Loki 616? ) seems to be an exception to the rule, and not an exception they were happy to make. Mischievous scamps make bad slaves, I guess. Maybe their "mind is too strong" to be enchanted in such a way.

I think the variant angle is new. Supposedly Mobius is basically a Mr. Smith from Matrix clone of sorts in the comics. Basically the other analyst is another him. Doesn’t look like that’s the direction they’re going here though. Given only two episodes remain I don’t think we’re going to the answers until later.

Three more, eh?

btw- Mosquito Coast pretty good.

Loki: Called it.

Damn this show is good. So much to take in and still not over. Yesterday's episode almost had the feeling of a season finale cliff hanger. I'm starting to wonder if main Loki is going to sacrifice himself to make way for Lady Loki or even Kid Loki (rumored as part of the Young Avengers) to take up the mantle. He's already dead in the main timeline so it would kind of make sense. I hope not since Hiddleston is so great... I also hope they keep Lady Loki around... she's fuggin great. I wonder if this is it for Owen Wilson? The Judge/Ravonna sure went from reluctant baddie to all out villain though. Some speculation that the Beyonder will make an appearance as a villain too. Also of note, a second season is already in development.

I don't think Loki will be done for another couple MCU phases. The Season 2 definitely helps that feeling ring true.

If the Multiverse happening due to an "unweaving" of the Sacred Timeline, then all of the Lokis could essentially be set free.

This could make for Kid Loki in YA, as you mentioned, especially since there are a number of them that have been touched upon or will be in the next year or so (Patriot (Falcon show), America Chavez (rumored to be in Dr. Strange 2), Kate Bishop's Hawkeye (upcoming Hawkeye series), Speed & Wiccan (WandaVision and DS2), etc.)

I don't think Sylvie will be killed off with as much fan swell as she's gotten. You never know, but I think she'll end up being a main character for a few years at least. Whether it's as hero, antihero or villain, it remains to be seen.

I'm fairly certain Owen Wilson will be back on this series, but may not see much after that. All sorts of little clues make it seem like he's been mindwiped/kidnapped variant before. The familiarity with the Judge, the rings on the table in her office, little things that he knows without knowing, etc. all make it seem like he, or versions of him, have been there for a looooong time.

Beyonder is an interesting theory that I haven't heard yet. Might be too early in the MCU to bring him in though. Molecule Man is one that I heard could make an appearance.

As far as the Judge, I knew from the get-go that something was off about her, but couldn't get a bead on why. With her connections to Kang (who better show up next damned episode!), it makes a bit more sense.

Is Kang going to be this show's Mephisto? :pound:

Doubtful he'd make more than a post credit cameo in a D+ series but Kang has already been cast so at least we know he exists in the MCU.

Possibly. I know the Judge Renslayer is involved with him in the comics. But as we've seen time and time again, Marvel/Disney has said Fuck You to the comics and made their own version that is just referencing the comics.
