Report: Cowboys WR Owens reportedly fined $9,500
DALLAS - Terrell Owens reportedly is becoming a fine mess for the Dallas Cowboys.

Yet to take the field for his new team, Owens was fined $9,500 for arriving late or missing a handful of mandatory team functions, the Dallas Morning News reported Sunday.

According to the report, the talented but troublesome wide receiver was fined for missing both a team meeting and a rehabilitation session and arriving late to an offense meeting. The transgressions took place Friday.

"That's our club business. That's going to be accounted for," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told the Morning News.

Signed to a three-year, $25 million contract in the offseason, Owens has yet to play for the Cowboys due to a hamstring injury. The 10-year veteran has participated in just 12 of 31 practices this summer.

In addition, Owens has maintained a respectful but clear disagreement with Cowboys coach Bill Parcells about the extent of his injury and his preparation for the 2006 season. Both have questioned each other through the media.

This is the latest dust-up for Owens, 32, who has been a dangerous offensive weapon and a distraction in every one of his NFL stops. He was signed by the Cowboys in March, less than a week after being released by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Owens had 47 catches for 763 yards and six touchdowns in just seven games last season before the Eagles deactivated him for conduct detrimental to the team. Owens had publicly criticized numerous members of the organization, including star quarterback Donovan McNabb, and constantly griped about his contract.

In 2002 with San Francisco, Owens scored a touchdown against Dallas and sprinted to midfield and celebrated in the middle of the star at Texas Stadium, touching off a minor brawl between the teams.

After missing a deadline to apply for free agency following the 2003 season, Owens was traded from San Francisco to Baltimore, which moved him on to Philadelphia.

Owens has had many positive signature moments, especially in Super Bowl XXXIX, when he returned from a broken leg that robbed him of the final two regular season games and two playoff contests to make nine catches for 122 yards for the Eagles.

A five-time Pro Bowl selection, Owens has 716 catches for 10,535 yards in 142 career games.

Without Owens, the Cowboys have won their first three preseason games and play their finale Thursday night vs. Minnesota. Their season opener is at Jacksonville on September 10.

I not too fond of Owens.
Me either...and cowboy fans are saying all they care about is his TD's....well, if he's not playing, he's not getting ANY!! :p

This guy is a full fledged LOSER.

I'm not fond of him? I hate him.

I'm sick of this clown getting all this pub for what? For being an asshole? That's not right.

Who? Why do I care? ESPN cares. I don't. They like whining babies. I don't.

boy it sure did not take long for Owens to make trouble for his new team and you would think teams would not sign him for his attitude i would laugh if he doesn't catch a single pass this year which i know he will have his share of catches. Dallas knew what they was getting when they signed Owens so they are getting what they signed

Crossbones say what everyone feels about T.O.

Cowboys should simply release him.

Why did they need him in the first place? I don't even think wide receiver is their Achillees Heel. Dallas's problem is the QB. Can Drew Bledsoe take them to the playoffs and beyond? That's the million dollar question. Even Bill wonder considering that Tony Romo has been looking great in the preseason.

It's pretty obvious Bill has no use for him. He didn't endorse the signing in the first place and he rarely mentions his name in his press conferences.

I wish no team would sign him so football fans would be devoid of hearing the mindless chatter of what did T.O. does everyday. ESPN is doing everyone a disservice talking about this guy considering that no fan like Rupertreally cares. Here's hoping Dallas does the right thing and just release him. They don't need the distraction that he brings.

Great WR....pain in the ass prima-donna....that's all that TO is!!

I agree Wanda it's like he has to feed his need for attention i cannot stand players like TO that thinks either he has to have the ball every play or has to have all the attention i like to call this syndrome the Hitler Syndrome it's not healthy at all

This was Jerry Jonews shoving Owens down Parcells' throat. I don't think the Tuna bought into this signing at all and now we know why.

Looks like soon the explosion in Dallas will be heard around the world.

Well, what happened to Jones' other great signing, Drew Henson was it? Cut for being a worthless QB. He played 1 year of college ball and then cut and ran for the easy money of the Yankees. When he couldn't cut it there, he jumped into an NFL contract (remember how he was the "perfect Raider QB"). Yeah, a load of crap. I'm sure his agentt has set both he and Drew up for life with all his contract magic. They really sold two gullible owners a bill of goods.

Well I wanna see how many cowboys fans are still lovin' TO at the end of the season!! :p
