2018 LB Thread

Can ya get the production outta of Smith in a 4-3 vs a 3-4? That's my one and only concern- Dude had like 0 missed tackles last year.. thats fuckin insane... Don't be surprised to see the Packers move up in the top 10 to take Smith-

If they do it will be with us so we don't have to draft a LB..

Damn... what is that 8-9 yards?... in the blink of an eye..

The depth at LB this year is real good, it offers a wide variety of prospects from two down thumpers, coverage backers, to guys that can do it all. I don't know which way we go when the draft rolls around, but if I have my choice, I'm going with Edmunds in the 1st. The more I think about his versatility and how we can move him around from SAM to Mike to DE intrigues me to no end.

Top LB's heading into the combine,

1. Edmunds- I think Edmunds is the kind of prospect that would go top 15 in just about every draft. Size, speed, power and versatility. He does seem to have a few issues with picking the right gap to fill from time to time though. All that and the kid is only 19. So much potential and not in a negative way.

2. Roquan Smith- If he was 6'2" 240 and a bit stronger he would be #1 probably. As is, he's real close to #1. I wonder if he's not kept clean on a regular basis if he can continue to navigate as well in the NFL as he did in college. A smart and instinctive LB that would be an upgrade for 80% of the teams.

3. Rashaan Evans- Evans is a clear step bellow the other two guys, but it doesn't mean he's a slouch. Powerful and athletic kid who I think can fit nicely next to Bowman and help bring some heat up the gut on blitzes. He's got enough range to get to sidelines and make some nice plays. I'm not to sure about his coverage ability but, I don't think he has to come off the field.

4. Jerome Baker- He's a bit like Smith except he's not as good. He's got range and is a fairly good tackler. He'll hold up in coverage and can knife through the line to attack the QB. He's the "modern day" LB, but just seems to be missing a little something. I still like him though.

5. Fred Warner- He's not the whole package as a LB. I wonder about how he holds up against the run, and if he's aggressive enough. But I don't worry too much about his ability to cover. He's not the world's most athletic guy, but always seems to be at the right place at the right time in coverage, he's a smart player you could say. It's something we are sorely missing out of our LB core. If he was our 1st dip into the LB pool, I wouldn't be mad. We need a guy who can really cover.
