The Del Rio, Pagano & Norton Thread

Del Rio's contract was reportedly worth 4-5 million per year.... with some of the most knowledgeable people in the league saying most of it was not guaranteed.

But we're going to waterboard ourselves with this it-was-guaranteed-for-6-million-per-year nonsense? At least we don't let a good fairy tale get in the way of the truth. :D

Nobody outside of Del Rio and his agent will know how much of that contract was guaranteed.... but if you read between the lies.... everything points to very little of it being guaranteed.

- When Davis gifted Del Rio with the extension in the middle of his contract, Del Rio didn't exactly have the kind of leverage to earn 10M/year. If Del Rio didn't have the leverage to earn 10M/year, do you really think he had the leverage to pull all-guaranteed? My best guess.... Davis offered him a higher annual salary and a nice signing bonus in exchange for less guaranteed on the back end. Coming off a 12-4 season, Del Rio likely had a strong enough sense of over-confidence to take it.

- Davis has been chasing Gruden for years. Do you really think Davis would go all-guaranteed with any coach when he was prepared to cut bait the second Gruden says he's coming back? This is the same Davis that worked Sheldon Adelson. I highly doubt Davis got worked on this. I'm pretty confident he structured Del Rio's extension with the idea that Gruden might be returning sooner rather than later.....

- Now Del Rio is already back on the job market looking to land a coordinator..... demotion? That doesn't sound like a guy who is sitting on 6M/year severance. That sounds like a guy who got next to nothing and has bills to pay. Has anybody heard anything from Jeff Fisher? Fisher got real guaranteed money and is sitting on his couch getting paid. So Del Rio would rather bust ass working as a DC for a rookie coach with a broken roster, rather than sit on his couch and get paid? I'm not buying that for a second.
So easy to think the least of a guy whose nickname is Bowlcut. Part of his genius, I guess.

Plus we have the highest paid QB in the league in a year we will have the highest paid D player in history, the highest paid coach, 10 mil a year players like Irvin, Osemele, Hudson and Sean Smith.

The whole "Mark Davis is broke" bull shit can end any time. Just paying attention to the team shows you thats just not the reality.

We sign players to huge deals, we are paying two HC's 16 mil a year combined to coach, we have high priced players all over our roster lol and we are about to have the newest most state of the art football stadium on the planet.

I think Bowl Cut is OK money-wise haha.
Isn't that the whole NY Yankee buying a championship thing? Nope, more like the LA Dodger method.

Massive interior OL with mauling guards.
Tackle breaking running back who gets tough yards.
QB that has an arm to back off the defense and a young stud WR

GOD AWFUL COACHING = NO OFFENSE

#GrudenSaveUs

When the average OL is making making more than $10mill/year you should be able to tell the defense what you’re doing and they should still be able to execute.
The days of talent discrepancy between Art Shell, Gene Upshaw and Jim Otto and the DL are not upon us. First, Penn is not Shell. Second, D's are smarter and generally bigger and more athletic than back then. Third, we were running outside zone with bigger, slower men, which is stupid. So, telegraphicing a bad play didn't work. Go figure.

KO, Hudson, Gabe... fire off the ball and destroy anything in front of you. Lynch take this ball on a quick developing play and run directly behind them N/S.

After typing that I have proven a better OC than Downing.

[whiny bitch voice]But Lynch likes a zone scheme[/whiny bitch voice]

These guys are power blockers and we're asking them to step sideways first? Doh!
Now we're bringing back Cable, the sideways guru? SMH :wtf1:

Cable concerns me more than Penn.

Remember the amazing power scheme the Raiders ran that year when McFadden looked like a stud (between missing starts when he was hurt)? Cable was the HC.

We have previously run power while Cable was here. I'm sure we will do it again. Or we will simply cut Penn, Osemele, and Gabe.

I thought that was Hue's doing though? That Cable was basically hands off on particulars at that point?

He still had a ton of influence on the offensive line. Hue picked the offense, Cable made the offensive line play well to match. And Gruden will be picking the offense. Now Cable gets to make the offensive line play well.

I'm probably being way too sunshine and roses. But it's the off-season. And this is when I get to be optimistic.
