Thank You

ESPN is the old news Network. It no longer breaks news it reacts to it. Same with CNN ect. Times have changed, nobody wants to hear someone else's opinion on breaking news they want everyone to like and retweet theirs.
Live sports. People still tune in to watch.

They had a whopping 88,000 viewers for their premiere. It wasn't prime time hours but that's just abysmal. The radio show ESPN played the week before had closer to 140,000 viewers. If that's 'hip' then apparently the kids didn't get the message. I'm 28 and I sure as hell don't want them as a mainstream option. They have their moments but mostly their material is a miss for me.
I don't see them joining with ESPN, just taking over in general. They've got their own sirus station and one of the most popular podcasts around. It's only a matter of time before they branch out into tv. What they've done is pretty remarkable. Started out with a guy handing out prints at the train station and turned into the most popular men's site in America. And they've done it their own way.

I think sports highlights shows are dead, just like an all music station. There are just so many other ways to get highlights and breaking news.

Live sports, talk and opinions, plus the standard 1 hour news show repeated a couple times a day. That channel will exist.

I'm pretty sure ESPN is getting out of the MNF game. They're bleeding cash and making massive cost cutting moves. I think that's why you're hearing so much about Gruden coming back to coaching. No way they pick up the MNF contract.

1. I liked Mike & Mike but haven’t listened to them in years. I thought they were entertaining and I appreciated that, unlike a lot of the “hot take” shows, they actually seemed to enjoy working with each other. I was happy to read that they seemed to have mended fences before the show signed off.

2. ESPN suffers from the same problem that all news outlets suffer from these days - less actual news than “infotainment”. And, yes, I realize that they made their bones on that schtick (Berman nicknaming players, home run catch phrases, etc) but it seems to me that it has gone beyond a cheeky side dish to actual coverage and has become the main course instead. I don’t remember the last time I watched ESPN programming, honestly.

They overpaid. No one will pay that amount again. But that does not mean MNF does not have value.

MNF is suffering from the over saturated NFL programming.

Fact is people are worn out with football 7 days a week.

Agreed. Last in a long week of 24/7 football, from Thursday to Monday.

Thing is apparently they can still sell commercial time so it pays.So much that Goodell Is looking for $50 mil a year. But maybe the market is due for a correction.

Personally I don't get to see many week night games. But it also seems I'm not missing much.

It wasn’t players taking a knee. It wasn’t our playoff drought. It wasn’t moving the team to Vegas.

It was Thursday Night Football that caused me to watch less and less. It just reached an over-saturation point where I was like “oh, fuck you. I’m not spending all fucking week watching this.”

I have uncovered eyewitness reports of the US Navy plane in Washington State.

Viewer discretion is advised....

I still watch the same amount but to me it's the fucking flags. Refs are controlling the game way too damn much. You can't have a big play anymore with a "oh better wait and see if the ref is going to call some ticky tack BS" reaction. Takes away a lot of the excitement for me.

Not sure you're missing anything.

For me I just can't sit through a complete NFL game. I've even turned a few Raiders game off early.

The bullshit hypocrisy of the league.Including all the PC crap.

The bullshit calls.

And the general dilution of the product or "brand".

All so true. And as I've mentioned I'm still here but in some ways I'm done with the bullshit of our organization. We do have our own form of continuity. Its called dysfuntion. And we have been successful at continuing to reinvent it.

It's hard to sit through the endless commercials. I often do house chores to pass the time
