Wow, I'm seeing a whole lotta hate directed at Bochy from Giants fans right now. People upset that he pulled Moore... and that he pulled Law after only 1 batter... and then put in Javier Lopez instead of Will Smith.
Thats been the problem. Relievers can't get comfortable because they know Bochy will yank them if they let a runner on. Moore was crusing and made one bad pitch all game. should have just left him in until Cubs got a batter on base. He should have just let Law stay in as well. Ultimately this falls on Bobby Evans for not bringing in a legit closer at the beginning of the year and at the trade deadline.
As far as Moore goes last night, I agree with the Turkster. You run him out there for the ninth inning. What could it hurt to let him pitch to the first batter? If shit goes sideways then you bring in help. But oh no... FML
Apparently Moore and Bochy have conflicting stories and how it went down in the dugout. Apparenly Bochy said that he conferred with Moore about him going back out, Moore said Bochy told him he was done for the night. Don't think any pitcher worth their salt would have wanted to come out, epsecially the way he was pitching. His FB was still at 95 in the 8th and he had made one bad pitch all night. Fugg it, you have all offseason to rest your arm.
Wonder if the prior Tommy John surgery, plus the 133 pitches he threw in his near no-hitter game back in August, had anything to do with it?
I think it's Bochy being Bochy and managing by the book. This is win or go home. You have all offseason to rest your arm. He was pitching off nearly a weeks rest. Worst case, you bring him in for one batter should Fowler get on.
