That would be quit a post Senior Bowl rise for this small school kid.

indeed. I forget who posted it but I think in the 30 for 30 there were quite a few saying he could go in the 1st.

Mike Mayock, NFL Network broadcast, who lists Ogunjobi as one of five players he's watching on the North Roster:
"Big week for him. He could be a late first- or second-round pick. He's got that kind of talent."

A few, I think it would be a reach that could pay off. Although I'm not sure I would make that call.

Problem with early draft boards is that they haven't seen most of these kids play yet. They mostly stick with narrative and you see these small school guys rise slowly as they start gathering more information.

Once you see how a guy performs in 1:1's at the senior bowl and how he holds his own in practice and the game itself you start to dig in more and more. Next thing you know you have a guy like LO or Obi 1 shooting up boards. The talent was there it just needed time be evaluated then racked and stacked.

With using a vertical board I would bet these two guys rank very high on our draft board in comparison to a guy who might be more talented like Harris.

Happy to wait and see if he, Wormley or Willis falls to #56. If not, then I hope TKO or Walker falls to #88 if I think they can play inside.

Players you hope are already gone by #24:

1. Insert name of any QB
2. Top OT prospects
3. Cook and McCaffrey
4. McDowell

I'd say Humphrey even though I think he would be a damn good S. Drafting him as a CB for our team I don't think I would like. If we made him a FS?? That might intrigue me. Other than that.. Not many players I don't like. I can make an argument for just about anyone.

yeah Reggie loves those humble kids from small schools... have to wonder if he's feeling burned by Jihad though.

Jihad was a project who was taken way too early. Ogunjobi looks like a contributor from day 1. As we've seen from Red, he's not one to give up quickly on a player, but it should not preclude him from drafting another DL as we have major holes on the front 7

Well, I have no problem spending a 2nd round pick on a DT to replace McGee and hopefully get an upgrade over Ellis and Latham. That's a difficult position to find a plug and play rookie, though, especially from a small college.

It's that or grossly overpay for guy who probably won't live up to his contract.

He may not get every snap for all 16 games + playoffs, but if he can get 30 defensive snaps in Week 1 (split with Latham/Autry) and grow into the role by mid-season where he takes the lion's share, I would call that a successful 2nd round pick.

Nah, I think he knew it would take a year. He has no issue with developing a player. I've said it before and I'll say it again. In the 1st 3 rounds we will get a guy that has something to prove. LO fits that to a model. Small school, overlooked, and underrated, untapped potential, comeback story type guys.

LO
Obi 1
Sidney Jones
Terrel Basham
Hassan Reddick
Just a few of the guys who could have that chip on their shoulder that I think our Red likes to tap into.

Yeah but Red hasn't exactly fared all that well with his "developmental" type guys. You just don't reach for a developmental guy with pick #44 unless you are the Patriots. Guy was ranked dead last among DL last season.

We still have a lot of holes to fill and he has to nail this draft to make up for the Jihad and Shilique debacles from last year.

And the two picks he used to get Cook, leaving other needs unaddressed.
