Raiders/Cowboys Post game thread

Smith has been stellar for close to a month now.

Bring more pressure and your cover guys look better and generate turnovers.

Amazing concept.

Knowing Reggie I’m sure he will swing for his fourth first round DB eventually he will hit on one

Asking Smith to cover TE turned out to be an aweful idea. He is a press-man boundary corner. And he's good at covering big WRs. It's nice having one of those on your team. Asking him to do whatever Norton was asking him to do was #Dump.

The whole “playing 10 yards off” thing is dumb.

He’s gotta get up on ya early.

I’m pretty happy with how he and Irvin have played. I’d need to see who or if we could upgrade rather than just cutting guys to have lots of cap space.

If Smith is one of the malcontents, he's gone. If he's not, he might want to play elsewhere anyway after being misused and benched multiple times. As for me, I like how Smith and Irvin have been playing under Pagano.

So whats up with Smith's court problems? Do we even know?

I said a while back he was playing like our best corner. That actually started before Norton got canned. He's been playing decent ball.

Either way fire him.

Smith got beaten by Bryant multiple times. Marrow pressured Prescott one time and he threw it high otherwise it was probably a TD.

As someone said pressure is what we need, a penetrating DT, which I hoped MEJ would be, and a DE to go with Mack will help this defense the most.

How many teams have rookie 3rd and 4tb round CBs that play better than ours?

2 catches... I guess that's multiple by deffinition. Smith did a decent job on him all game.

There were multiple times he was open and they didn't get the ball to him. As I said above marrow saved an easy TD by forcing Prescott to scramble. Without a good safety which we don't have Smith is a liability. If we had Conley on the other side smith would get destoryed. What saves him is he's marginally better than dexter or TJ so teams go the other way more.

It is interesting how we can all see different things from watching the same game.

He gave up two catches and had two picks?

And he missed that bomb to Dez by an inch. That was a close play that turned out unlucky

The pick was lucky (which we haven't been this season) again caused by pressure. Not by smith having good coverage on his man. Usually plays like that even out over a year. Last year we got more (nelsons 6 int) this year we've gotten shit for luck. Which is one of the big differences in our record.

He has his wheel house. Watching the film, he got beat a few times but, that happens to all CB's. I'm not going full retard for the guy, but his play has improved. I wont cry if he goes, but the bottom line is he's getting the job done more consistent than any CB on the roster. If we can keep him on a more cap friendly deal I'm ok with it.

I agree with a cap friendly deal.

You don't luck into two picks. He's playing a bit more aggressive and I like that. Like the long pass a week or so ago when Nelson just straight up missed his tackle behind him. Play aggressive.

If a QB is hit as he throws and you happen to be there it's luck. There's no way around that. Yes smith is playing more aggressive and that's a good thing. But any CB in this league makes that pick. He didn't fight for the ball and come down with an amazing play.

Disagree. DBs miss picks all the time, including a potential game winner against us.

Someone post up how many catches and yards etc he’s given up this month.

I bet it’s solid.

We all see different things. Reality is we all focus on highlights or misses rather than the good stuff. Atleast when good stuff isn't happening.

Evan Engram makes a great TD catch and we see Nelson come over at the last second we assume Nelson should have been there. Reality is he was in coverage over the WR and the LB should have dropped back another 3 yards to prevent it.

Nobody points out good coverage or LB play when the ball isn't going that way. It's harder to identify good play when it's not being shown. Every once in a while you'll hear one of us say. Way to take on the double team Eddie, or stuff like that. We freeze frame the moments of the game that things go bad and rarely get to see what players are doing right.
