Post-Game Thoughts

O'Malley can block, but TE is awful crowded.
After Cook, Walford and Smith, give me the best ST players available--whether a RB, WR, TE, LB, S or CB.

Probably practice squad but I wouldn't be surprised if he was cut.

Vanderdoes game tape from game...

Newhouse game tape.....not from Saturday...

Vanderdoes looks very active. Just are going to have to monitor his snaps because he looks like he can tire easily. As long as he is pushing the middle of that line and blowing up blockers, I'll be very happy. We never got any of that from our DT's last season.

Lincoln Kennedy was raving about Newhouse's play the other night subbing for Penn but all the edge guys in the AFC West (V Miller, Houston, Bosa), predominantly line up on the right tackle. Red needs to get Penn in camp.

No, unfortunately didn't look the part vs Cards...

Our 7th round developmental tackle from this draft though showed some promise; obviously still needs work and needs to get stronger, but showed some athleticism.

Yeah he looked bigger than I thought he would be. Looked smooth footwork wise. Long arms. He's built a lot like the long time Jets LT (name is escaping me) who just retired. Definitely a guy who looks like he might turn into something with a little seasoning.

If Corey James plays like he did against AZ, Vanderdoes and Hester do what they did, Luani and Borders keep showing up, Joseph and MEJ stay healthy, Conley shows why he was a 1st round pick, Obi gets Smith off the field.....this will be a much better defense. Not gonna panic over Calhoun and Sean Smith looking like two guys that need cut. Those two are trash. And got picked on all night. Gimme some Mack and Irvin and add Conley at CB and get Smith and Calhoun off the fuckin' field and this defense might be a lot better than what most of us think it will be. Tell you what.....If we want to play this two high shit and disguise shit......Luani might be a surprise starter over Nelson. Nelson getting beat over the top when McGill is the only option is quite different than Nelson showing his ass and having a guy do what Luani did waiting in the wings. If Luani shows up like that over the next two games.....I don't see how the fuck you start Nelson over him.

To this list of seemingly interminable "ifs" lets add: if Norton pulls his head out of his ass, Hester plays like he did against starters, Conley actual practices let alone shows he was worthy of a first round pick, Mack turns into full Hulk mode, and we play a bunch of shitty offenses in half our games, then maybe, just possibly we'll have a better defense.

Lol, AZ literally called plays at Smith and Calhoun all night. Watched it twice. They picked on Nelson too when he was in. It was smart. I think if those two, or three were simply off the field in favor of what we already have on the bench, and add Mack/Irvin, it would look a helluva lot better. Perhaps we will see that next week.

Amerson Luani Joseph Borders

James Lee

Irvin MEJ Ellis Vanderdoes Mack

Let's see that next week for a couple of series.

Yeah, those three suck. Let's see what these younger guys can do, and might as well do it in pre-season. As for Mack put him bubble wrap until game one.

Lee breakdown from game....

Cory James breakdown....not from last game...

Karl Joseph mic'd up today at practice...glimpse of his personality...
