Offseason Roster and Coaching staff thread

Anyone know which 6th round pick we traded to NE?
We had 6 picks in the 6th round. (185, 192 from Seahawks, 210, 212, 216, 217 (all compensatory).

We had zero in the 5th. We now have one, (159: Pats from Cleveland Browns through Kansas City Chiefs).

Still don't know which 6th pick....

Patterson's value was mainly as a gunner

The suits want to eliminate the kickoff so Pattersons salary better served with getting conventional WRs who can run the entire route tree

Raider secrecy.

Oh, I get it. Hope we do something useful with the money. But I’d rather have Patterson at $3.25M than Roberts at $4.45M or Carrier at $2M. Just sayin.
I don't get the staff not cutting Roberts. It's like he's on an Al scholarship

We would have only saved like $2.45M against the cap (with $2M in dead money), and would not have received any trade compensation. That said, he’s not out of the woods yet. While he might not be the next guy to go (Cook or Walford is gone next), he could still be on the block.

Watch what he does in NE and we’ll all be saying why didn’t we do that with him.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all if he ends up making some big highlight plays for them. I’m more of the opinion Gruden simply felt it was a luxury this team couldn’t afford. Although many of you were skeptical of the success of the 2016 12-4 season, I think Red and Del Rio thought Patterson was a special teams ace that could help put them over the top in 2017. Instead we end up having a terrible year on offense, holes all over the defense, and some chemistry issues to boot. Now we’re reassessing where we need to spend those precious cap dollars.

I think you're right Sleet. Just hard to believe he's still on team

Although that’s true there’s no way we’re drafting anyone in the 5th that replaces his productivity.

No shit. It’s about Grant, paying 1/2 of his salary by dumping a gunner/kick returner. Gruden already decided he was not going to incorporate Patterson into his O. Holton is a better deep threat and far from finished product.

Great gunner and leading the league in field position off kickoffs (not to mention the few plus 40 yard TDs), that’s using him pretty good (IMO).
Interesting fact, Carr only had 3 less tackles than Patterson.

Patterson also didn't catch a single TD all year.

He also probably had 7 of our 10 longest plays of the year..

Quick check shows that Walford has a cap hit of just over $2 million with about $200,ooo in dead money if released. Cook’s cap hit is around $5.6 million, but it looks like no dead money. Agree, one of those two is a forthcoming cut. I don’t imagine either have much trade value, but Red would no doubt love another 7 rounder.

Given our general lack of team speed on O as it is, I hope Walford is shown the door. Cook is faster than Grant and possibly Nelson.

If you can sucker a team into giving you something for Roberts like we did with Patterson and the Pats, then there’s really no rush. The fact that he’s on the roster right now doesn’t mean he’s going to stay.

They just gave Seth a 2 million dollar roster bonus.

That means he's going to stay.

For some reason, I thought we were stuck with dead money even if we cut Roberts before he got the bonus. Regardless, giving him the bonus seems like a good indication he’s staying. I suspected that his repeated brain farts last year in the passing game would override his perceived solid execution in the run game and he’d be cut. Oh well. He’ll likely be the highest paid #4 WR as well as splitting time with the #5 WR (Holton).
