lots of "solid doubles" out there. I'd like 2 big guys for the DL, a safety, a TE and a QB for our 5 picks.

2. DT Jesse Williams, Alabama (6-4, 323, 4.94) Do want, but apparently he's injured. Maybe he'll fall to Rd6 and be a red shirted steal.

4. RB Johnathan Franklin, UCLA (5-10, 205, 4.49) Definitely intrigued, and he'd fill a need.

6. QB Tyler Wilson, Arkansas (6-2, 215, 4.95) I still kinda think he can be a good starter one day.

7. FS Phillip Thomas, Fresno State (6-1, 208, 4.65) Getting dissed for not running well, but you can't teach ballhawkness.

8. WR Quinton Patton, Louisiana Tech (6-0, 204, 4.53) Considering his hype, I'm surprised he's available. Must be another media creation. Still, on day 3...

14. QB Matt Scott, Arizona (6-2, 213, 4.69) If he's there in Rd6, do it.

16. FS Bacarri Rambo, Georgia (6-1, 211, 4.56) Still pissed at him for shying away from contact, but he's definitely someone I'd give a look in Rd6. Like gone well before then, though.

21. OG Alvin Bailey, Arkansas (6-3, 312, 4.95) Insurance in case Berg and/or Nix don't develop.

27. RB Stepfan Taylor, Stanford (5-9, 214, 4.76) Shitty 40 times, but looks like a 3 down RB to me.

28. OLB Chase Thomas, Stanford (6-3, 244, 4.91) HB had me sold on him early in the process. If not for Sio Moore, I could see some value in taking him. Now, not so much. Not unless we plan on shedding one or two of the guys we signed.

29. DE John Simon, Ohio State (6-1, 257, 4.76) Fits the Reggie profile.

38. DE Michael Buchanan, Illinois (6-6, 255, 4.78) Tweener, but could hulk up into a decent reserve DE.

And half the guys I really want aren't even on this list. Fuckers. Maybe that means they'll be there in Rd6. Probably just means that Bruglar is an even bigger clown than I thought.

I want some of Gil's no-names, largely because I put 3 or 4 of them in my Lil Al.

Mike Catapano, DE/LB, Princeton

Rogers Gaines, OT, Tennessee State: If Gaines were 6-2 and 298 pounds with 31-inch arms, I wouldn't want him. But he's 6-6 and 334 pounds -- and he ran a 5.24 40, which is pretty fast for a guy that size. He's also got arms that measure 36 1/4 inches, which is key because arm length is probably the most important indicator of future success for an offensive lineman. He had a bit of a knee problem that some teams are worried about, and he's a soft-looking guy who could use some time in a good conditioning program. But that just means he's an excellent candidate to be stashed on somebody's practice squad to develop, as the Green Bay Packers did with current Seattle Seahawks tackle Breno Giacomini. Another guy Gaines reminds me of: Jermon Bushrod, a fourth-round pick out of Towson in 2007 who turned into a Pro Bowler for the New Orleans Saints before landing a free-agent deal with the Chicago Bears.

Ryan Griffin, QB, Tulane

Demetrius Harris, TE, Wisconsin-Milwaukee:
A desire to play basketball led Harris to Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where the lack of a football program put the high-school standout's gridiron career on hold. Harris' agent, Buddy Baker, is a pretty honest guy, and he thinks Harris has a chance to be something special. Harris is another guy who will need some room to develop, given his time away from the sport. Baker has experience in this area; he represented another former hoops player, Indianapolis Colts guard Joe Reitz, during his transition to the NFL.

Charles Johnson, WR, Grand Valley State: Johnson, who notched 31 touchdown passes at Grand Valley State over the past two seasons, is a very good athlete, having posted a 39 1/2-inch vertical jump and 11-1 broad jump at his pro day (along with 4.38 and 4.39 40s), and he has excellent hands. You could say, "Well, he didn't face great competition," given that he played at a Division II school, but it's worth remembering that Pierre Garcon, now a standout receiver for the Washington Redskins, went to Division III Mount Union. Three teams (the Colts, Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots) were in to watch him work out, and he had several visits set. He did have to transfer from Eastern Kentucky, but he is not a character problem.

Not a TE in the bunch, though. Red's going off radar, again.

If NFL.com's prospect grades mean anything, we almost have to take Quinton Patton if he's available when we pick. They've got him at an 83.8, which falls behind only the injured Jesse Williams and the "enigmatic" Alex Okafor.

And there's that whole thing about Reggie being a WR freak. Something to consider.

Watson was a basketball player. Should have good eye-hand coordination.

I'm just saying.

Give him Barnes' role under Hue for a year--upgrade! :p

I'm in.

Hell, put Berg at RT and run some 2TE sets with Barnes and Watson. How's that for a fucking Ace package?

Oakland is known for being a tough city, whose passionate fans expect their team to play in a physical, uncompromising style.
"That's me to a T," said Watson.
"I didn't really want to go [to the Draft] because I'm not really into the glitz and the glamour. I'm really a work guy. I really just want to hurry up and get to work.
"I don't go out and I'm not into the nightlife. I wanted to get myself a job and get myself an occupation. I think that's pretty much it. That's me to a T."

There many people over there following him, Limee? Or are the majority of folks there still entirely disinterested in our little game?

So we pick 3rd today...

Gimme that Patton feller.
