Music Discussion

WTF is this abomination?

You like it. You know you do.

Dr.Dre apparently had a brain aneurysm and is currently in the ICU

Crazy. Sounds like he’s stable though.

So why all the hate for The Eagles? Just curious.
For me at least, they represent the ultimate in Boomer bands. Dickheads who wear jeans and sports coats while they perform. Don Heaney comes across as a supreme douche. Hotel California makes me want to rip my ears of my head. The same with Fleetwood Mac. I hate that whole generation of music so much because of who it represents.

Their music was boring and bland to begin with but more so I just associated them with people I couldn’t stand as a kid. Those rich, wine drinking 50 somethings that worked corporate jobs but liked to tell you they were like you when they were young.

To be fair a lot of the kids I rolled with grew up to be those people lol.

I will say Fleetwood Mac was probably the first band I got sick of hearing. That Rumours album. They played the shit out of it when it came out. Still can't really listen to it.

I happen to like the Eagles. Don't judge. Sometimes I even get tired of hearing their music too.

I think during the 80s Boomers were called Yuppies. Is that who you guys are referring too? Those people?

So I still listen to a lot of radio. At work the truck has Sirius. But still.

There's 3 rock stations in SAC. Good one in Stockton/ Lodi. And a few in the Bay.

My 3 in town. Jesus. Even though they're slightly different. If you notice they all seem to have only like 3 or 4 songs of any given group or band. Gets tedious sometimes. And a Led Zeppelin song every half. If I never heard Kashmir again I wouldn't miss it.

One of my favorite Bay Area bands is Y&T. Never hear them. Although that Stockton station plays a better mix sometimes.

You listen to what you like except top 40. lol, You don't have to apologize. I would say a lot of the guys here have shit taste in music. If you don't like some of the headbanging obscure crap they listen to, your music is crap. Listen to guys like @DonkeyKilla and the late @NIPS . These guys are musicians and know their shit.

Joe Walsh is a phenomenal guitarist. So is Jeff Beck, Leslie West, SRV.

Music is like wine. Any sommelier will tell you that if you like the wine, then drink it. You don't need to impress anyone.

Meh I don’t care for them still but it doesn’t go further than that. We all get old and turn into those people lol. It’s called growing up.

I have good memories of that music and Fleetwood Mac. I was banging all kinds of broads while you were dating girl scouts. :chuckle:

That’s the thing with music... so much of it is memory association. I always liked those mod chicks that liked the Cure and shit like that.

Someone always thinks someone else’s music is shit though. I like Green Day. Seen them play in backyards when they were still the Sweet Children(?). They were accessible for people my age just starting to get into the Berkeley music scene. I remember going to a party with a bunch of older punk types and being like yeah Green Day. They probably would have beaten my ass if they weren’t so busy making fun of me. But to this day I can put those first couple records on and it takes me right to those days.
