Movies Discussion

Loved the game, movie looks like it could be at least kinda fun...

I watched The Sisters Brothers last night and it is a great movie. Joaquin Phoenix and John C Reilly are assassins in the old west. If westerns aren't your thing you probably want to skip it but otherwise it is a great watch from beginning to end.

That rumor about Jennifer Lawrence joining #Marvel's #FantasticFour has been debunked

Honestly, good. I don't think she would be a proper fit. I also think that they should be looking at lesser-known actors for roles, as they won't have any baggage from other roles following them. Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston were fairly small names when they got on Thor and did fantastic. Both of them have been able to branch out into other genres well. many of the others were successful, but not quite on the level they are now. Many were supporting actors that finally got a starring role and have done quite well. Yes, there were some that were big names already, but not all.

I watched it but didn't end up liking it nearly as much. Phoenix was regular Phoenix - good but nothing special but I just can't unsee Step Brothers anytime I see John C. Reilly anymore. Gyllenhaal is another guy I find hard to take seriously. I know it was meant to walk the line between drama and dark comedy but it almost did so too well and kinda left it up in the air as to what the movie really was. The ascetics were pretty on point for the era though.

Lawrence does nothing for me as an actress.

That said, who would have thought Downey Jr. would have killed Tony Stark like he did?

It's funny that my original line of thinking was John C. Reilly can act? It may be why I liked it as much as I did because I thought he carried the movie. Phoenix was almost a secondary character to me as his character didn't have a lot of depth. I've always liked Westerns so I'm sure that played a part in my enjoyment. I agree about Gyllenhaal but he didn't play a big part in the movie anyway.

I love westerns too. And this wasn't terrible... just wasn't my favorite. Mostly like I said because it was hard to figure out whether it wanted to be a dark comedy or drama. Weird that westerns by nature are so minimalist yet so hard to nail.

Zack Snyder confirmed he isn't being paid to work on the Snyder Cut of Justice League, and still hasn't seen Joss Whedon's version Justice League. https://t.co/iSTC3DmPBP

Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder saw a private screening of Joss Whedon's β€˜JUSTICE LEAGUE’ and told Zack that β€œyou can never see that movie.”

It's open season on Joss Whedon. Egads.

I always viewed Downey like I do J

I may have oversold it. If you watched Triangle first you may see why any entertaining movie was a hit for me. I'm not going to submit it for any Oscar's but it kept me entertained.

The biggest thing I took away from that is the "Only in Movie Theaters this Christmas." Fauci giving them the stink eye already.

Marvel: Deadpool 3 will be R-Rated.

Me: Oh, thank God!

Marvel: The Blade reboot will not be.
