I’m not talking about this in the fuggin Dodgers thread. A’s looking more lively today. Those Kelley Greens are money. 3 game series is weird though.
Well, it’s down to a third and final game. I couldn’t watch today’s game because of the Reds/Braves game going into extras. They moved the game to MLB Network and ESPN news, both channels I don’t have. I proud of my boys for making it really interesting at the end.
A’s were in full control up until the 7th when Melvin put Hendriks in and the Sox almost pulled it out. Real questionable 3rd strike to end the inning with the bases loaded saved our asses.
There’s still 3 outs to go but I don’t see the Sox pulling his one out. Good luck against the Astros.
Is it the same one from yesterday? There were a couple strikes he called that I would have been pissed over had they gone the other way.
I’m not sure. Some balls were strikes and then they were balls later on. It was the same for both sides but he was really bad. I don’t mind if a guy has a strange zone, just as long as it’s consistent and called for both teams. Ultimately this game is on the skipper. Using the pitchers the way he did, giving Pinder a free pass to first, and bringing in a rookie to clean the mess was just mind numbingly stupid.
They were talking about wanting to get one of the rookie pitchers some pressure innings yesterday which seemed weird. Not sure if was Dunning or the kid they brought in relief.
RIP Bob Gibson. What a player! Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter Cardinals’ Hall-of-Fame pitcher Bob Gibson died Friday night in Omaha, Nebraska, after fighting pancreatic cancer for more than a year, according to the @stltoday . Gibson was 84.
Used to have this baseball encyclopedia I must have read 100 times as a kid and I remember reading about this guy. Didn’t even realize he was still kicking. Baseball is the ultimate nostalgia game.
Even scarier on the mound than Dave Stewart. That is saying something. Someone once said to Gibson, "I'll bet you'd even throw at your mom's head." He said, "Only if she was crowding the plate."
That’s another thing I miss about old school baseball. Fucking hit that mofo. Big dudes like Stewart you couldn’t do shit about it either. Don’t want to get hit, don’t want to rush the mound? Back off and shut up. Don’t get me started on the lack of base running either.
