I know this has already been posted, but it's orobprob best to start a thread to house the conversation about this big article.

    http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/25252751/mark-davis-oakland-raiders-1-8-start-buck-stops-me

    1) Mark and Reggie tried to make Mack highest paid defensive player last year at the same time they got Carr's contract done. This was when Mack went radio silent.

    2) Mark has no love lost for Mack after his holdout.

    3) Mark realizes the dearth of talent on this roster. The "construction" phase was entirely unsuccessful.

    Edit:
    4) There is definitely something that happened in the locker room last year after Washington. And Mark doesn't even know all the details but he knows the locker room split.

    He knows the details.

He just doesn't want to say it.

Buncha whiny bitches lettting politics affect their play....Carr sucks but seriously, has anyone keyed on Osemele at all? Dude has ‘ole’d Pass rushers all year, I’m talking completely missing them on spin moves, let Donald pretty much throw him in the ground. Dude is legit trying to get Carr killed lol. I wonder if he was the anonymous veteran who said after the Chargers game that he “had to get outta here”. Could have been Jordy tho.

I'm not holding the offensive line blameless. They are getting paid among the top in the business (except for Penn) and playing terribly since Washington.

Performance and accountability in the workplace is a two-way street. Even if you don't like the viewpoint of management, are still responsible for performing at your job. And on the other side of the coin, it's your responsibility as a leader to know that what you say and do can impact the morale of those around you--so don't publicize your controversial stances.

Personal responsibility is a bitch, but you have to own up to it. (You is the general "you" especially the Raiders players and coaches, not "you" @Armyr8rfan )

From the interview, at least Davis is taking accountability for the dumpster fire. He's not pointing fingers.

However, Mack holdout shows Raiders will blink when this comes up again (then again, you have to have good players for them to hold out...that's another story)

"After taking on Mack and losing badly, Davis decided he didn’t want to go 0-2 by taking on Cooper, who also is represented by Segal, and experiencing the same outcome.

“It might not have been the right decision, but the other point to this whole thing is that Segal is also the agent for Amari Cooper,” Davis said. “And we knew the same situation was coming up the next year. It wasn’t just one layer of chess; it was two layers of chess.”

Call it chess or checkers or chicken, the Raiders lost. And now Davis admits it. Which sends a dangerous message to all other players and agents who will be negotiating with the Raiders in the coming year.

Bottom line? You can play hardball with the Raiders, and you can win. Big.

Speaking of Cable I think that ship has sailed.

He's not the man for the job. He needs to be replaced.

He does speak from the heart...however his record as owner speaks for itself

Could not make a deal with Oakland, 5th largest TV market and home to more 21st century money than LA...

hired poor GM with half ass cap skills... continues with coaching/ coordinator carousel and can’t retain franchise building block despite having franchise tag available.

As for Cooper, keeping Mack didn’t stop us from trading him...as a matter of fact, it set up the you get paid for how you play for us market position.

Now with biggest disappointment since The Oakland Senors...shows us his side.

Tells us Gruden is his endgame after call his roster talentless...who assembled that group dummy? Your and the Endgame HC.

Nelson, Lynch or Irvin had to get big $ ?

Is it time for Die Mark Die?

The A's are willing to put in 100% private money on a new stadium and it STILL might not happen in Oakland.

The politics of building in the East Bay have led to 2 teams leaving and a 3rd that may end up leaving (although less likely). I'm willing to put a lot of Mark, but let's not act like the city of Oakland is blameless with regard to the Raiders leaving.

You hire a GM that slants his draft board based on religion. You draft a QB that fits that mold but is more interested in his stats than winning football games. Then you fire the OC and hire his bible study buddy as the new OC. Rumors fly that they spend more time on bible study than the play book. Then the QB that is supposed to be the leader further alienates his teammates by not kneeling with them in solidarity. And all these guys watch Derek audible out of run plays in goal line situations to pad his stats rather than give the ball to Marshawn. Refuse to throw Hail Marry's (you would think he would believe in those) and throw away passes on fourth down. Just plays like a complete pussy and then you wonder what went wrong.
