More of the mixed bag for NFL viewership this week as Austin notes below. FYI: Monday Night Football has Saints at Raiders next week. Last year's Week 2 MNF game was Jets-Browns which drew 11.8 million viewers. Viewership for NO-LVR should be interesting. Pair of 1-0 teams.

Austin Karp @AustinKarp
ESPN averaged 10.8 million viewers for Steelers-Giants on "Monday Night Football," down from 13.5 million for Texans-Saints in the first window of Week 1 last year. Up from Jets-Lions in 2018 (10.45 million).

With Thomas potentially out, this could be a somewhat competitive game. I’m not sure how we win this game, but I don’t think we win trying to play a slow ball control type game. You can try and keep Brees off the field, but does that approach work that often?

I think in order to beat the Saints you have to almost make it a shootout type feel. Does that mean we have to abandon the run? Not at all, just keep the pace going. Keep the pressure on with quick efficient play calling.

Well, I doubt we’ll ever get a two score lead, so hopefully Gruden’s conservative side stays home. Now if Carr can only deal with pressure.

Possible hope?

RT @pff_seth: How did the Saints score 27 points on offense and yet it was maybe the worst game of Drew Brees' career? You could see the inaccurate throws from the broadcast but the a22 is revealing of deeper concerns. Not pulling the trigger with wide open receivers. I'm inconsolable. Blogger / Podcaster

Really our coaches should have the blueprint for defending that.

We need to put pressure on Brees if we can’t we won’t have a chance

Thomas out is big for us. Healthy he likely works us for 12 catches for 150 yards and owns 3rd downs like Hopkins did against us last year. Thomas is an absolute stud. With him out we can focus a little more on Kamara and bringing more heat on Brees.

Josh Jacobs matched his career high (set vs Chi last season) with 29 touches from scrimmage. The last #Raiders player with more was Darren McFadden with 34 vs Chiefs 12/16/12

PFF @PFF
Highest share of total team touches in Week 1: 1. Josh Jacobs - 48% 2. Derrick Henry - 44% 3. Christian McCaffrey - 40% 4. Clyde Edwards-Helaire - 37% https://t.co/JCFupWW00I
He looked like he could’ve taken another 10. Dude looked fresh and ready to roll.

Like all great QBs.

If there's no pressure on Brees, the game will be over by halftime and we can all go to bed. Secondary will also need to do their part in just causing Brees to hesitate a split second or come off his primary read.

We need to actually have him in the game for him to get any pressure

He’s actually got to do something while he’s in for me even notice the difference.

He played a ton of snaps anyway actually...
