Enjoying a Sazerac right now

There's this new thing called exercise... Google it from your lazy boy recliner
when you reach a certain age exercise alone doesn't cut it. I work out around 11 times a week, hard. I have to be very careful about what I eat (and drink) or I put on weight even working out that much.

I miss the days I could just work out more and that would do the trick...

Uni (sea urchin roe) is one of the quintessential best things I've ever eaten.

Uni, bone marrow, abalone and foie gras are my Mt. Rushmore of foods.

Think I've had abalone but not sure. You don't really see it anywhere.Even here in California.I believe it's very strictly regulated.

I would try anyone of these. But hear so much bad press about foie that I don't know.

Uni? Yeah some day.

And watching Anthony Bourdain with those big beef bones.Yeah I'd be all over that.

Just joined Instagram and started following Hog Island oyster.Seem some nice pics of oysters on the half shell.Good
stuff.

Yeah, abalone has always been tough to get and it's getting even tougher. Whenever I see it on a menu I get it.

I know...I kinda feel bad about how they fatten up the goose liver but gotdamn...it just tastes so fucking good!

If you ever get to the Roseville area check out Nixtaco on Cirby. He has bone marrow on the menu. 3 big bones for only $12.

Generally speaking if you want abalone you need to go get it yourself picking under the rocks when the tide is out... very rarely seen in restaurants. It does seem to be prevalent in higher end Chinese restaurants but I think that's some weird farmed shit. My dad goes abalone "diving" which doesn't really include much diving. Shit is all in Great White territory though.

You find it at sea food restaurants in the bay area or up the Northern CA coast. One place famous for their Abalone sandwich is Duarte's in Pescadero. Fucking delicious!

My dad used to have a buddy that he would trade with...would give him some of the ducks/geese he shot for some abalone that he dove for.

Abalone is good. I haven't gone after them in years. Ab card isn't worth the once a year I used to go rock picking. Limit is 2 and your only allowed 2 in possession at a time. My dad doesn't swim so we'd go rock picking. Uncle, his boys, my brother would go diving. One cousin said regulations are getting to where you can't rock pick any more. It's a shame as I started rock picking with my dad and uncle at 6 or 7.

Geoduck is awesome, too. Only had it once in my life, but it was memorable. (And expensive!)
