I think guenther is our after this season. Regardless these quitters on defense will likely all get canned if they play as putrid as they did in Green bay

I don't think people were pining for him at 4 though, more like one of our later firsts.

I don’t think anyone could have predicted him being THIS bad based on his tape.

    It’s looking ugly.

350lb 3-4 NT Vita "wannabe Haloti Ngata" Vea has 4 for more QB hits than Ferrell this year.

Vea has a shorter distance to travel through a guy who’s getting felt up by a QB. :sneak:

Might be the nicest thing you have ever said about Carr... needs to be saved just in case you delete it...

Okay, I'm only on page 2 of this shit.

    And I call bullshit.

It is never a player's fault where they are drafted. So start with that.

Ferrell is a 3 year starter on a team that won two national championships with its D. Was MVP of a bowl game his last year. Two DTs he played with made round one money, and between them they have 3 sacks and 16 tackles.

Ferrell has played 5 games, and he does his job: keeps outside contain and doesn't penetrate higher than the ball. That helps everyone on the front 7.

Guys get press and contracts and bonuses for sacks. If the opposing O doesn't score or goes 3in-and-out who cares if there was a sack? No one.

Watch the film: when Ferrell plays, teams don't run much to his side, and never run gimmick plays to his side. As Guenther's D comes on, Ferrell will get his sacks.

And as for Guenther, he has very little to play with, especially in the back 7. Nevin Lawson and 3 rookies at CB, KUJO and a cast of characters at S, and 4 guys at LB, almost none of whom would even be on the roster of 20 teams. And that D-line corps only looks decent because of Guenther's schemes.

The MIKE is the QB of the D, all the more true of Burfict. Jonathan Abrams is the D equivalent of a splashy WR like James Jett (who destroyed the Donkeys' 3-deep zone in a glorious playoff game) who changes the energy level and tone of his entire unit.

How good would the O look without Carr and Williams?

Ferrell is being out played every week by Crosby/Mauro/Mayowa @Birdwell

If you are satisfied with what you see so far I don't know what to tell you buddy.

He looks like a street FA.

    You played football, right?

Seriously, after years of watching the Raider D blow outside contain ( a LOT of years), Ferrell has been fun to watch

Mayowa is not as disciplined as Ferrell, and while Mauro is more disciplined than Mayowa he still loses contain 2-3+ times a game. Crosby is a good pass rusher and below average in setting the edge and the run game generally.

You got on me about looking at box scores for games I haven't seen yet, but you base your post on stats.

Nnamdi Asomugha was so good no one threw at him so he seldom showed in the stats. Ferrell is that kind of guy five games into his rookie season.

I've watched every snap Ferrell has played this year and have come away with a completely different view of our top 4 pick.

If you switched his jersey with Josh Mauro nobody would have any idea.

He's the invisible man out there.

I'm not at all satisfied with what I've seen from Ferrel but I think he will be good.

But first you all will blow me. :D

My thing sith Ferrel is he has pretty consistently been one of the last guys off the ball and he got one sack but it was a coverage sack and then other than that he rarely gets pressure. He does set the edge but so did Frostee. We are supposed to be happy with Frostee at 4? And I was one of the few that liked the pick.

    This.

Its not a "I was right you were wrong!" thing either.

This forum by and large loved Burns and Allen more than most places. I frequent 3-4 draft forums and we were way ahead of the curve.

Both the guys this place liked have been dynamic. Exactly what we are missing IMO.

Its a double gut punch IMO. You just don't take that type of guy #4 overall.

Adrian Clayborn/Jabaal Sheard types go later.
