*** When I was in my 20's and 30's the discussions around the gym used to be: "What you working today?", "How much you benching?", "You see the ass on that broad?"... Now more and more I'm hearing "What's you blood pressure like?", "What's your resting heart rate?, "What's your cholesterol level?"

*** Let's flashback to the days of the already quite studly 16 year old HB

Way back in the day, our entire LB group got together during summer two a days and got both ears pierced which in those days wasn't as common as it is now... Our LB coach who seemed real old to us back then but actually was only in his early 30's took one look at us and ran our ass for two solid hours... 100 yard Bear Crawls, suicide sprints, that stupid train run where you run around the track in a line and the last guy has to continually sprint to the front... You name it, and he did it to us all the while cussing us "ladies" out... None of us could figure out why he was so pissed with it, but we damn sure lost the earrings before the next practice...

Fast forward into the future where our quite studly HB is temporarily (hopefully) filling in as LB coach for a friend going through some stuff... Last week the LB's all showed up at practice with that fag Jersey Shore waxed and shaped ear brow look...

I found myself quite angry and I ran their asses hard the whole day... After practice, several of the fathers approached me looking a little pissed off... I was thinking here we go again, I'm going to get in trouble for telling a parent to piss off... They asked me WTF was going on and why I just ran them instead of running them through drills where they'd learn something... I told them, "It was the eyebrows that pissed me off".... They started laughing and told me how they wanted to jack the boys up when they came home like that... They told me to run them everyday till the brows grew back to normal with their blessing... I settled for giving them all a girls name instead...

I guess having grown up during the fashion disaster that was 80's, I should have been more sympathetic, though unlike Turk, Nips and Natty (Parachute pants, Flock of Seagulls doo) I had managed to nimbly sidestep most of the embarrassment...

I called my old LB coach up after practice and told him "I finally really get it.... I know why you were so pissed off back then"... He started cracking up and then proceeded to cuss me out for 10 minutes for a play I messed up back in high school that almost cost us a game... Dude still scares the piss out of me...

*** We've had some epic surf here this summer and my daughter has me taking her out on dawn patrol pretty regular.... Frankly I am a nervous wreck watching her... She's already better than I was in the water at that age, but it scares the shit out of me that my pre-teen daughter is out there charging hard... Wish she'd stick to softball before her old man strokes out...

*** I've seen the movie Kangaroo Jack a million times already because my 5 year old son always wants to watch it... I'm starting to wonder if the little bastard is about the Kangaroo or is already about checking out Estella Warren...

*** Sad news about James Gandolfini, but I'm going to miss Vince Flynn more... I look forward all year for his new book release...

*** Yasiel Puig = the real deal

*** 10 non Raider NFL thoughts

1) The Rams defense

I really, really love what the Rams are doing as far as piecing together their defense... Love as in "They'll have the best front 7 in football by years end", love... If they get their safety spots straightened out, watch out... It's tough being in the same division with Bones' Seahags and the Niners, but it won't surprise me if this team makes a hard run at the playoffs...

2) In a few years I think people will be talking about Thomas Dimitroff and Les Snead being the elite GM's in the NFL

3) Dustin Keller
With the New England TE's having their own problems, I think Dustin Keller is going to step up and be the Pro Bowl TE to deal with in the AFC... He'll look real smart for deciding to play on a one year prove it deal this year when he is cashing that 2014 FA check...

4) Carson Palmer
I think Carson Palmer is going to have a very good season for Arizona... It's a perfect match with a good coach that will play to his strengths in a good vertical scheme... I think Fitz will put up the same kind of numbers he did in 2007-2009 with Warner throwing it...

5) Da Bears
Speaking of QB's people love to hate, I think Jay Cutler is going to take that next step as a QB under Trestman and Aaron Kromer... It sounds strange, but I think the Bears will have a dangerous offense with those coaches, Cutler at QB and good skill position matches for Trestman's system... Forte and Bush are going to catch a shitload of balls...

6) Team on the Rise: Carolina
These guys start to put everything together and make a strong run at Atlanta with 10+ wins

Team on the Decline: Green Bay
I don't think they are in any danger of challenging us for the 1st pick in the draft, but I can see them having to scratch out an 8-8 season... Aaron Rodgers carried them last year, but their division got better and I think the league starts catching up to that O...

7) Talented team in need of a better coach: Dallas Cowboys
Talented coach in need of a better team: Rex Ryan

8) Young, breakout player with a Pro Bowl year:
Offense, Cecil Shorts
Defense. Corey Liuget

9) Gut feeling: Russell Wilson comes back to Earth while Sam Bradford's rocket takes off

10) When it comes to the 2014 draft, defensively everybody is talking about Jadeveon Clowney, and rightly so... but man are things stacking up well for 34 defense teams that will be drafting in the top 15 with Morgan Breslin/Kyle Van Noy/ Anthony Barr/Adrian Hubbard... Nobody is really talking about Breslin, but I think there will be some Clay Matthews comparisons with Breslin moving to a stand up role this year...

I don't think Palmer's gonna have a great year bro. He may put up numbers but they won't equate to wins....

Cards' tackles suck. With all the good pass rushers in the NFC West, Hot Dog Guy will be spending a lot of time running for his life or staring up at the Arizona Sky with little birdies tweeting around his head.

Fuck Palmer!

Here's hoping Karma has something to say about Palmer landing in a seemingly perfect situation for himself (but for the OT thing).

One can only hope.....

So what I got from the Random Thoughts ramblings was that HBoy is trying to convince us that he was this stud LB years ago. Hey we can all dream.

More likely a 130 pound StepperLike free safety who got his ass kicked on a daily basis.

All I got was LB's are all metrosexuals. Manti approves.

Plus over 30 is old.

Funny shit.

I have a buddy that coaches and every year when the kids show up Jersey Shore style he makes them shave their heads and tells them the ones that are any good can grow that shit back.

Arson got what she wanted twice, good for her. She got out of two second rate cities sniveling, bemoaning and snickering all the way. Bravo Trolol.

Yeah I dropped my son off over at one of his friend's houses this dude was basically wearing spandex. Befor I could say shit my kid looked at me and said yeah yeah you wont ever see me in my sister's pants.

I still don't see Carson giving the Cardinals more than a 7-9 record this year. I'm sure he'll put up decent numbers and get a revival out of Fitz, but he'll still fall short when it matters and won't be able to carry that team. The offensive line is still a question mark and could be the downfall once again for the Cards.

With the Bears, I was glad they gave Trestman a shot at a head job. It'll be intriguing to watch. He's smart enough where he could change the way offenses think and train... and he's volatile enough where he could be booted out of the league in a year. I wanted him as our coordinator before he took the Bears job so I think he can be a success. Getting Kromer was a plus. One of my good friends is a Bears fan and his enthusiasm was really drained after the draft. Watch out for Forte in that offense, though. The trio of Cutler, Forte, and Marshall should all put up huge numbers.

What do you think about Cam Newton after the up-and-down year he had last season? Those athletic abilities are insane but he seems to just be lacking... something. I don't know if he's a leader even though he talks a big game. He'll be fun to watch for years to come one way or another. On defense, Greg Hardy will be All Pro next year. He was a guy many around here wanted late in the draft and he's really stepped up after being a dud in college despite all the ability. Getting Ryan Kalil back this year is big, too. He's their best offensive linemen and he went out five games into the season.

Cecil isn't going to be able to put up Pro Bowl numbers with the garbage Jacksonville is throwing out at quarterback. Liuget is going to be a pain in our ass for years to come. Our offensive line better get it in gear.

And how the hell do you break up a long ass post like HB's and individually quote those sections? God damn, mother fuckers.

I'm sure there's an easier way, but I do it by typing [/quote, closing the bracket at the end of one segment, and then [quote and closing the bracket at the beginning of the next.

WTF? I wouldn't click on the quote icon either.

And speaking of random: Car (not motorcycle) dealers need to die. Yes die. Bandits.

I've actually seen a lot of love in the press lately for what Carolina's defense can become... but I have to say that I love Detroit's signing of Idonije today.

My cable provider's on-demand service added a "Gandolfini Tribute" section the day after he died. Of course, everything in that section has a fee associated with it. That's not a tribute, assholes... that's profit. What a bunch of dicks.

Picked up the kids a week ago. Next week is when I get them in to stuff. For my son, it's either a 100% Jiu Jitsu school or a place that does Muay Thai, Pankration, and Jiu Jitsu. I think that his skill set would advance more rapidly at the former, but I think that he'll enjoy the latter more. For my daughter, it's a little harder. She's talked about piano lessons or ice skating lessons... but today I thought of maybe getting her horseback riding lessons. She'd flip for it, but I have to find out the cost before I dare even mention it aloud. Regardless, it'll be a good time.

You know how I know I'm a sucker and a softie? Because I'm paying out the fucking nose to take a 13 year old girl, a 12 year old boy, and a 7 year old girl to go see Bruno Mars. Hey, I like some of the stuff the guy does (fuck you for judging me)... but that's going to be an arena full of kids.

I really cannot believe this Aaron Hernandez shit. How fucking stupid and/or arrogant do you have to be? For starters, when the police show up at your house and you hand them smashed cell phones and surveillance equipment, what kind of mental gymnastics have you done to convince yourself that they're just going to let it go at that? And things have gotten steadily worse for this son of a bitch since then. Tell you what - don't be surprised if the other two in the car are already cooperating with the police. I hate to say it, but kudos to the Patriots for eating the cap hit and cutting the guy.

At work, I sit 6 feet away from the most dysfunctional human being I've ever met. You know how long your days are when you never know what will flip the switch or when it will happen... but you know that something will definitely flip it, and soon? Every day, man. And this is the person that trains me.

This whole Warren Sapp initiated Strahan-Rice thing is annoying. More annoying than anything because I know that it was Warren Sapp initiated. The guy's an asshole and I just want him to go away. For the record, I'd have been happy with either one of them, but Strahan's the guy I'd want first.

Nice post, but on a more personal level, it sounds like you have a wonderful family -- congrats.

I can't believe the little shit that used to be an Elvis impersonator as a kid grew up to be famous... Back then, his sister Jaime was getting all the attention...

One direction and my 10 year old for me next week:)

Kraft has always been that way with his players and the criminal thing. I recall releasing Christian Peter when the rape news broke. Good for him-It's his team and he can tell any player he want that they're out of a job.

Over/ under on Sleet vs. Pop tart posts today...53

Give me some of that over! I may even cash out my 401k because I can smell a big winner...
