Good is the starter per Mikes presser. Sounds like they didnt like any of the late guys enough over him.

Karl Joseph's fifth year option sounded like it wasnt happening lol.

Did not expect all the DBs in the draft after all the DBs we signed in FA. Nick Nelson hardest hit. The back-end guys better excel on special teams.

Yeah. I just would have rather gone with a couple coverage safeties. Whatever else it means, I guess Joyner will be playing high safety a lot more than we were led to believe by Gruden's talk about Joyner in the slot. You don't take that many CBs if you plan to have your top FA pickup play slot corner.

I'm probably wrong, but I do wonder about Conley's spot on this team for the future. This group of guys gets down and dirty in the run game and on blitzes and that wasn't really Conley's style last year. He may need to take some cues from Isiah and Mullen if he wants to keep his spot long-term.

Those guys can’t cover like Conley or play in the slot if necessary.

And I hope that wins out. A CB's #1 job is to cover. And Conley does a good job of that.

    :wavey:

I was half joking with the Conley on the trade block stuff but Mayock was clearly sending a message with his post day 1 comments about the locker room. There has been consistent smoke about Conley’s work ethic and attitude from two regimes now. He got benched last year despite his obvious talent. I don’t think it’s completely outrageous to consider that he might be on thin ice. Gruden clearly doesn’t suffer fools or players that aren’t here to grind.

Also interesting when asked about Johnson Mayock said “we think he compliments Mullen’s very well”...
