Well shit, another one in the books. Ended in the worst possible way but it’s time to look forward.

We currently have the following players under contract:

Curry, Draymond, Iguodala, Livingston, Damian Jones, Jacob Evans, and McKinnie.

Technically KD is under contract but it’s a given he’ll opt out just like it’s a given that we resign Klay and likely Looney.

That leaves Boogie, Cook, Bell, Bogut, and Jerebko as players out of contract.

Boogie and Bogut are known to be gone. Jerebko doesn’t really fit our new timeline and I’m not wasting my time on someone that can’t get any run in the playoffs. I think Jordan Bell and Steve Kerr will be mutually happy to go their separate ways (although Bell has said he wants to come back). He just hasn’t shown the IQ to consistently stay on the court. Cook? Meh.

We also have Damion Lee and Marcus Derrickson on 2 way contracts, both of which offer interesting options for next season.

Two storylines I’m looking forward to seeing outside of the Klay/KD free agent drama fest?

Jacob Evans transitioning to PG and whether we end up drafting Alen Smailagic.

Free agents we could be looking at:

The only two names getting thrown out there with any appeal to me are Seth Curry and Austin Rivers. We’re low key short on shooters and both of those guys can provide it plus they’re young enough to contribute beyond next season unlike other names getting thrown out like Ariza, Faried, etc. Rudy Gay is a guy to keep an eye on if KD leaves, not that he’d fill his shoes but we need at least one decent isolation scorer. Terrence Ross is out there but I’m thinking we could get most of what he provides from Steph’s bro in law for a lot cheaper and already familiar with the team.

    Important dates:

June 29th deadline for KD to pick up/decline his player option.

The draft is this Thursday. I usually don’t follow it too much unless we’re picking in the lottery but with the hype around that Smailagic kid it’ll be interesting to see which way we go. I’m going to dig around later and see what I can come up with in terms of draft prospects.

    The rest:

I have to admit it’s going to be kind of fun to watch the dogfight for the West this year. Apparently there’s some uncertainty to whether the Lakers actually have the cap room to sign a 3rd max player. I guess AD has a $4m bonus due at some point in the next few weeks and when the trade is actually completed determines whether it goes against LA or NO’s cap. That team needs a 3rd star and even then they’re still short on shooting. Plus AD being injury prone. That said, it’ll still be fun watching LA steal the bone right out of Houston’s mouth. All signs point to a messy breakup between the Rockets and Chris Paul. It’s possible he ends up bought out for pennies on the dollar and ends up somewhere else. If that’s the case he could have just taken a discount with Houston in the first place and allowed them to build a better team around him and Harden though. Dickhead to the end that guy is.

    Thanks for the memories Oracle!

I wouldn't touch Jimmy Butler with @MostWanted650's dick. That dude is a cancer and the worst guy to have around young players. He's best as an Iguodala type for a veteran heavy title contender. Even then he's not as willing to share the ball on offense as Andre is. I've read the talk about Beal for 1.4 but I'm wanting something more than just a draft pick if I'm Washington.

As far as returns for Iggy/Livingston - Shawn is simply cap savings as whoever got him could cut him right away and save like$5-6m. Andre provides value to a contender this season and than turns into cap savings as well at the end of the year. That's actually a pretty good deal for a contender because those type of teams are always looking for playoff contribution and salary relief. This is where Bob Meyers needs to get creative.

FWIW Adam Silver is apparently in favor of all this FA movement resulting in teams becoming “Super Teams” overnight. Stern was against.

I guess I can’t complain but certainly changes the NBA landscape over night.

Word is that players are starting to cool off on the idea of super teams because it detracts from their individual prominence and likely as a result of the backlash KD got by signing with us.

I guess it depends on what KD does. If he leaves we're essentially looking at a complete version of our team come playoff time assuming Klay's rehab goes well. If that's the case then ring chasers are fine and we'd probably be the trendy place for them to sign this year. If KD stays then we'd be better served to take a step back and see who we can develop since we'll be so cash strapped for the next 4-5 years. Realistically though, if he leaves we're looking at 1 $9ish million per year guy and minimum level contracts after that. There's just not a whole lot of flexibility there. A soft tank would be the smartest thing we could do for the long term viability of this team.

I think we are fucked with KD either way. If we keep him, there's no guarantee he will ever be the same kind of player pre injury and let's not forget, he missed an entire year at OKC with a leg injury. Not to mention the injury time he has missed as a Warrior. He's not a durable guy with those spindly legs. That contract could become an albatross in future years as he isn't getting younger. Let's also not forget, Dray is going to want to get paid next year as well. I guess that's the price you will have to pay for being a dynasty.

We are probably looking at someone like a Patrick Beverly, maybe a Darren Collison. I've always liked Trevor Ariza's versatility as well. Great defender and can make some threes.

Doesn't sound like they are bringing most of the Oracle Arena employees with them according to what I have been hearing. That kind of sucks.

One trade that I think would be a win/win for everyone is Livingston for Lou Williams.

Lou would be killer off our bench and the Clippers are a few mil short of being able to give out two max contracts with him on the books. Not crazy and they might not do it but I'd definitely kick those tires.

Its crazy how much shit Mark Davis gets for moving the team from the fans and beat writers, yet Lacob and Co. get a free pass. I mean I get the Dubs are run by competent people, and have built a dynasty, but a lot of the season tix holders aren't going to be able to buy season tix at Chase Center. Dub Nation was supporting that team even when they were sucking ass.

Now all the tix are going to be going to all the millennial hipsters who work at Google, Uber, Sales Force etc. and all those other tech companies.

NFW. Livingston is a shell of the player that Lou is. Why would they trade with us anyway?

    Bruh, cap space.

They clear Lou’s salary and there’s enough room for Kawhi and another max free agent.

Mike Conley traded to Utah. Solid move by them. Not a game changer or anything but definitely an upgrade over Rubio.

I wonder if Memphis cuts Korver now. He might be a Jerebko replacement type that can at hit a 3 point shot consistently.

Just looking at some mocks. Apparently we are looking at the white kid from Belmont, Dylan Windler who’s a catch and shoot guy with size. He’s a tall lefty. Reminds me of that Aussie dude on Utah.

Also seen that Ty Jerome kid from Va mocked to us. I don’t want anymore 7 foot project guys. Get guys in here who can play.
