The Panthers continued the sudden trend of #asexpected applications of the franchise tag, putting it on defensive tackle Kawann Short.

They have until July 15 to do a long-term deal with Short, but they’ve been working on that for over a year.

The difference in opinion on his value could make it an interesting negotiation.

Short had 6.0 sacks last season, still good but well off the 11.0 he had in 2015, when it became apparent he was going to get very rich.

Now we just have to see if things proceed amicably, unlike last year when they yanked the tag from cornerback Josh Norman, allowing him to go to Washington.

It also helps keep their line together, after they’ve re-signed defensive ends Mario Addison and Wes Horton to new deals.

Anybody interested in Dontari Poe? Rumors are he's shaking loose.

KC fans don't seem too concerned. Past his sell by date?

Id be more interested in N.Fairley or J.Hankins. Poe is a better run defender. We needs someone who can get to the QB.

Poe at right price is better than big Dan no?

I'd agree, Poe is a little past his prime but could still be an asset. God I hope MEJ is back with a vengeance because we need someone who can penetrate from the middle.

That's my feeling. Rather have Campbell or Baker.

.....If the Raiders are indeed letting Murray test free agency then they should probably start taking a hard look at those replacement options. As we learned with Jared Veldheer (who Donald Penn has replaced nearly flawlessly, thankfully) a player testing free agency is not always eager to let their former team know what the market price was set at before signing a new deal....

Marcus, at Cornell University they have an incredible piece of scientific equipment known as the Tunneling Electron Microscope. Now, this microscope is so powerful that by firing electrons you can actually see images of the atom, the infinitesimally minute building blocks of our universe. Marcus, if I were using that microscope right now, I still wouldn't be able to locate my interest in your story. :coffee:

From BookMaker.eu: Adrian Peterson's team in Week 1 of 2017 regular season

Green Bay Packers +200
Minnesota Vikings +250
New England Patriots +1000
Oakland Raiders +1000
New York Giants +1500
Dallas Cowboys +2500
Field +120
The interesting thing with NFL free agency is there are no leaks. We really don't know where anybody is going until it's announced. With the NBA, everybody is leaking something. Even with the NFL draft, we already know the top half of the first round before the draft.....

I think Peterson already knows where he's going. Somebody needs to appreciate what we as fans are going through and just leak something.... I can't believe I was listening to sports radio and they were talking about oscar sh/t. Maybe they should move up the start of free agency from March 9 to today. Would solve a lot of problems.

Market correction coming. Top player salaries have been lagging behind the rapidly increasing salary cap. Rogers (2013) and Megetron (2012) still had their positions top salaries coming into this offseason (Brown just eclipsed Megatron). But with more money in the game, Rogers' salary should be eclipsed soon too. The fact that the historically frugal Steelers just paid top dollar to keep a FA and Red "overpaid" KO by $2M per year (as compared to the next OG) tells you how well NFL is doing.

A healthy MEJ with Calais could be very interesting. Cambell at $10mm doesn't look like he is going to break the bank and we can make some wiggle room with some roster cuts, i.e. Dan Williams, Reg Nelson.

I'd make that trade.

Matt Khalil...Mike Tice Fix'er up project
Unless we bring back crumpets

I could see Reggie drafting a RT. We cant pay the entire OL huge coin. We need a rookie contract on there.

While I anticipate Watson leaving, I could also see him coming back on a one-year deal. I don't think there is or should be a limit on how much you pay the OL, provided you pay good players. Who after the big three and Jackson is getting paid next? No reason not to extend him.
