Knowing the Raiders will want a new coach and the fact Al Davis was a yes man not to mention working for cheap, I could see Mike Tice being a candidate. All Tice has to do is follow orders and he will do well. I think he is willing to be a yes man considering that he will want a job since no team in their right mind would hire him. I could see Tice is being Al's type of guy.

Bite your toungue. Shame on you. :p

Mike Tice is one of the worst coaches I've seen in years. Tthe only reason the guy still has a job is becuase he'll work for next to nothing and McCombs was one cheap SOB. Wait, hmmmm...mayvbe you having something there. Al can get Tice on the cheap...OMG

Al Davis is not going to hire a coach that has a forceful personality or a guy that is going to disagree with him. There is a reason why so many head coaching candidates that have high aspirations steer clear from him. They want nothing to do with him. When you hear stories about Gruden having a hard time in the end or John Fox walking away in the middle of the season, you can understand why no aspiring head coaches wants to deal with Al hence why Raiders fans will see a yes-man be the coach. I think Mike would be a good foil for Davis.

Don't get me started on Red McCombs. I got nothing good to say about him as an owner and as a human being. Words can't describe how I feel about him.

I wish I could convice a lot of Raiders fans of this fact. Fans want to blame the coaching problems on everybody except Al Davis.

Tice will never be a HC in the NFL again. Believe that. I doubt he'd even want to be. If he came to Oakland as an OL coach, I'd be excited about him...but that's the extent of it.

I am still baffled to why Gruden left, Tester. I never understood it and I think it's amusing that Raiders fans are mad at Gruden for leaving. He wanted to stay, but he wanted to be paid well like one of the top coaches in the league and he should feel that way. He deserved it. He gets the most out of everyone. I think he has proven that he is a great coach just by how he is getting the most out of Brian Griese and the fact that everyone expected the Bucs to be bad this season. He should have gotten paid what he deserved in my mind.

Tice will be lucky if he ever coached again, Crow. Maybe 10 years from now. I think he has a great football mind and he can be a good assistant coach. He has a value so some coach might hire him to help him out. Red McCombs should have never hired him to coach period. As Tester said, Tice got the job because he worked for peanuts. It had nothing to do with coaching ability and such. If Red McCombs was really serious about winning, he would have spent money and hired Tony Dungy when he was available. He was my first choice to coach the Vikings when Denny left. Tice did a good job leading the Vikings from Point A to B. That team was a mess when he got there. Still, this team needs to take another step and they need to have high standards which is why Tice will be gone.

Why Radier Fan hates Jon Gruden

Well I can only speak for myself on the Gruden situation. Here's my take and this is why most Raider Fans are irritated at Gruden.

When Gruden was in Philadelphia he was the OC, young and relatively unknown around the NFL. Along comes Al Davis who saw something in the guy. Now we all know that NFL coaching jobs (HC) don’t grow on tress. So when presented with the opportunity to coach the Raiders Gruden jumped at the chance. So Davis gets a young talented guy cheap and Gruden gets the chance that nobody else would give him except Al Davis. In fact I don’t think any NFL teams even had the guy on the radar.

I really don’t think Gruden wanted to stay in Oakland at all. In fact, after he made a name for himself in Oakland with his funny expressions and granted the ability to get the Raiders back to the top of the NFL he got the hell out of Oakland as fast as he could.

Gruden, though his agent, got himself linked to every job opening there was...first Ohio State, then Notre Dame. And while Gruden towed the company line by saying ``I already have a job" when quizzed by the media about the rumors, behind the scenes I believe he urged his agent to "spread the news" of pending jobs that would be offered to Gruden.

So, Gruden, IMO indirectly forced the trade to Tampa Bay. The story goes that Al Davis made the deal and called Gruden in the middle of the night and asked him what he wanted to do. Gruden told him he wanted to go.

To Raider Fan that was a slap in the face to the Dark Lord who was the only person on earth that saw greatness if you will and dragged Gruden out of Philadelphia...only to be stabled in the back as I described above.

Now you may be right that Gruden wanted to be paid. But he was going to get paid no matter where he went and I believe he wanted out in t he worst way. He was coveted now that he was finally given his shot as a HC in the NFL. So in the end I think it was more about getting out of Oakland and away from the controlling ways of Al Davis than it was about money. We'll never know for sure but that is why I think Raider Fans in general think Gruden was an ungrateful SOB.

Again, just my opinion.

Gruden didn't want to be here. He made that abundantly clear. He had allegedly agreed to a new contract, but it would have made no difference. He was clearly tired of Al's bullshit and was ready to get the fuck out.

He'll be an OL coach next year somewhere and he'll be a damn good one. Other than that, he need not have many high expectations.

Crow: I read in a paper couple of years ago where Al reportedly yelled at Jon Gruden's dad after a loss to the Ravens in the championship game and that's what turned Jon off.

I remember that.

According to the reports it happened in the locker room. I don't know if I believe it but that is what was reported.

Gruden was Al are both 'A' personalities and Gruden simply parlayed his opporutnity in Oakland into bigger dollars elsewhere. The Raiders, regardless of how the draft picks have turned out (or not turned out) getting 4 picks & 8 million cash for a coach that didn't want to be in Oakland anyway was a stroke of genius.

Besides, Napolean Harris was used to acquire Randy Moss, not bad IMHO.

I don't buy al yelled at john dad in lockerroom. maybe, he yelled at john for screwing up in afc championship game against ravens. Instead of putting in hoying gruden should have went and put in rodney peete.

I take randy moss in heartbeat.

Plunk: It may just be a dirty rumor, but it is not out of character for Al Davis.

It's official:

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5216680?CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=5

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) - The Oakland Raiders fired coach Norv Turner on Tuesday following consecutive losing seasons in which the team managed only one victory in its division.

The 53-year-old Turner, who had a year remaining on his contract worth about $1.75 million, had known his job was in jeopardy for the last two months after struggling to get the most out of star receiver Randy Moss and an offense that also included quarterback Kerry Collins, receiver Jerry Porter and running back LaMont Jordan.

We seriously need to get rid of our fucking OL coach! The 2004 season our OL wasn't that bad then we went out and signed a new coach and the OL went down the shitter!

No no! They didn't go down the shitter, they flopped right out there on the field and stunk up the joint. The stains were everywhere.
