But you're supporting @Nobodyinparticular 's point that the Browns are better now because they've been worse historically.

Unless I'm misunderstanding.
Not at all. I’m refuting the notion that the Browns are all that good just because they won last year. They, like us, have sucked for a long, long time. There wasn’t some master plan tank job that turned it all around for them... and I still don’t believe the hype, honestly. They had a good year.

You can draft well at any point in the draft. The Saints made the jump without picking at the top of the draft. Our problem has not been going .500. Our problem has been drafting like shit and doing a poor job in FA.

Fair enough. I took it as a follow up to support this:

"Browns are better now because they reached greater depths of bad."

Muh bad.

It becomes more prone to chance the further down you go.

Sure it does. But, as a fan, I’m rooting for wins, at least until we are out of the playoffs. I do wish we would haves “tanked” in ‘18, but that ship has sailed. We are opening up a new stadium this year. Give me one fucking good draft from start to finish, damn it!

I'm rooting to be competitive. I'll take it how it comes but winning some rando game against Arizona at the expense of draft position doesn't float my boat.

Not for us. The guy we pick would have still been there. Abram, Ferrell, Arnette.
Just don’t get it. The two differently philosophies lead to such different outcomes.

BPA: After putting aside the few positions one won’t draft, you select among a tier of players deemed equivalent and select the one that fits best, preferring certain positions over others. You don’t drop down for need.

Need: You sacrifice value for “your guy” if you think he’ll be gone by the time you next pick and you are unable to trade down. That means you on average reach by 16.5 spots.

How any owner allows the later strategy kills me. Even GMs in control too often do the later b/c they are worried about their jobs. HC are infamous for picking for need/their guy.

Yep. Finally started hitting on some of the draft picks. Coupled with the Bengals sucking. And Big Ben being hurt/regressing. It’s a two team division right now.

Back to this thread. Mayock better hope that 3 of the 4 following players make massive jumps: Ferrell, Abram, Ruggs, Arnette.

To those who've lost count, that's four first rounders- all of whom haven't done anything justifying their draft slots. "Draft expert", my ass. Fucking Ray Charles could've drafted better.

Ferrell: 5 sacks, stout against the run.
Abram: 2 picks, leads the team in tackles, sets the tone 3 times.
Ruggs: 45 catches, 850 yards, 6 touchdowns.
Arnette: 3 picks, gold record. Opening for L’il Yachty next summer. Appears at Butning Man.
Fucking Ray Charles: Maybe he’ll be successful but I don’t see it.
