COVID-19 Discussion

So out here in sunny AZ, 27% of people newly tested are now positive. Like holy shit. That escalated quickly.
As I understand the test, it detects those that do have it and those who have had it. If 27% actually have it, that percentage can only go down through attrition (when people with it die, regardless of cause).

There are at least three tests out there. This is from Johns Hopkins which is tracking testing in the US. "When states report testing numbers for COVID-19 infection, they should not include serology or antibody tests. Antibody tests are not used to diagnose active COVID-19 infection and they do not provide insights into the number of cases of COVID-19 diagnosed or whether viral testing is sufficient to find infections that are occurring within each state. States that include serology tests within their overall COVID-19 testing numbers are misrepresenting their testing capacity and the extent to which they are working to identify COVID-19 infections within their communities. States that wish to track the number of serology tests being performed should report those numbers separately from viral tests performed to diagnose COVID-19."

This is the link from the CDC regarding testing. Bottom line is we don't know what we don't know about testing. Other than the more people we test the more cases we find. Also there is no way of knowing how they are tracking people who have tested postive more than once. "The number of positive tests in a state is not equal to the number of cases, as one person may be tested more than once."

It's a shit show...

It's two different tests. The antibody test is a blood draw and tells you if you've had it. The nasal swab one just tells you if you're positive. My wife went to take the nasal swab one last week, and they wouldn't give her both when she asked.

That one went from 6% of people getting tested two weeks ago was positive tests to 27% now. That's like a pretty big jump.

There's a home test kit now that Labcorp will bill your insurance or the federal government for directly.

So now they want to rely on every Tom, Dick and Harry administrating COID tests.

The medical “experts” can’t even count their own results.

Yep.

Go online, screen yourself, enter your insurance info if applicable, get the test in the mail, swab yourself (I'm sure that's foolproof), send back and await results posted online.

Act now and get a 23 & Me thrown in for no extra charge.

Whole bunch of athletics department people just got fired today at FSU. Bunch of people I know who live there and still rely on it being a college town are getting nervous about what's going to happen to the local economy. I know a few long-time bars and shit have already folded shop.

Shit is into the side of the mountain as schools are realizing they're fucked because a season isn't happening.

Pros can take the risk (or at least die trying to).

These schools can't square that circle with all of their righteous bullshit about integrity and caring about the students.

I said life was going to be altered for the foreseeable future back in February, but it's going to be strange to actually see it play out.

71 mlb players tested positive for COVID on the prescreening I heard?

A few more opted out.

Should be quite the fun little MLB test run 60 game season coming up.

Read something about one being engaged. That alone is enough to ask "How's that work?"

"Keep it on her side of the pussy. I don't like you like that."

Dunno how the cocaine meme got in that mix, but whatever.
